Having just received our first shipment of SXTs, I wanted to ask fellow MikroTik community members about their views of best current practices with regards to ptp links. According to those NAT rules you posted you're redirecting all DNS traffic to yourself. dst-nat happens in pre-routing. We use code below the sig with the intent of providing a caching name server for clients, thus saving wireless backbone bandwidth for other uses. The problem is that all IPs are then listed on, e.g., team-cymru.org's open resolver list. If we set "allow-remote-requests=no", the router stop...

Re: what's better? (pros and cons of PPOE, EOIP, VLANs)

what's better to give clients an internet connection throw PPPOE or a simple lan configuration (ip,gateway,DNS)? thank u I ran across befire's question about the same time as I ran across this article on FreeBSD-ISP this afternoon. IMHO, it ties well with and expands on befire's question. What are ...

likely causes of winbox aborting immediately?

What are the likely causes of winbox aborting with say 5 seconds of loading (just after painting a null screen with the menu on the left)? The device is at the far end of a point-to-multipoint link in staging and we can transfer files to and from its client (a lab laptop) via wget. We believe the ha...

will renaming ether1=Public result in loss of connectivity?

We have some RB532s running RouterOS for which we did not (re)name the interfaces as, e.g., Public and Local. Will executing, e.g. [mikrotik] interface> set 0 name Public [mikrotik] interface> set 1 name Local cause loss of connectivity and a resultant truck roll or will the system continue to opera...

If I follow your logic then in parent=ether2...ether2 should be changed to reflect the Public/Internet/WAN interface. In this case ether1. But the rest is correct? I guess the “uploaded” packets will have the local client as the source. The last thing I remember memorizing was the list of countie...

Has anyelse else experienced/noticed that winbox's trigger for "router has been disconnected!" is a little hairy?

I believe I have also seen contradictions, namely counters still incrementing in the background behind the popup.

The R52s are worth the $113/pound of freight FedEx will charge you for the first pound of a shipment from Latvia to the US. 10 pounds worth of R52s are an even better buy!

The SR2 is in AP Bridge mode and everytime you reboot, loose power or apply a new setting the clients rarely reassociate without diabling and renabling the wireless interface several times. If you bring up the Interfaces pane and then bring up the Torch

similarity in the traffic numbers.

Shouldn't they be more or less the same?

What is the cockpit error/misexpectation or why is that the case?
