Re: VLANs on CRS125: trunk to trunk VLAN configuration?

the other thing I find interesting is the two code sections on original post...the first one seems to make sense in regards to how you do it in other switches (tagging and untagging)...the second one no longer has that untag step, I only started testing it as of 6.13 so I never had it set up prior t...

Re: VLANs on CRS125: trunk to trunk VLAN configuration?

Interested to see what comes out of this thread. I've used ROS forever for just straight routers. I'm trying to test some CRS with Procurve and not getting where I need to be. I can actually get it to pass traffic across a single port in your example, but if I want to tag vlans as I do procurve to p...

Re: RB450 Capacitors problem?

:) My RB450G failed on Sunday. I purchased it in July of 2011. No longer under warranty. The capacitors are bad. The Nichicon UPW series or the new Polymer capacitors are my two choices. The board made a sizzling noise before it failed. Mike you like these? http://www.mouser.com/ProductDetail/Nichi...

Re: capacitor problem

old ones appear to be 580uF 6.3V

I actually have a newer board and it appears they changed to 680uF 6.3V

found an old thread that said look for oscon, not an electrical engineer, are there better specs I should be looking at? higher micro-farad, esr?

capacitor problem

I have a building stack of 450G boards that are dead (bulging capacitors), did MikroTik ever resolve this? Do they warranty these things? I don't mind replacing the capacitors myself, does anyone have a link to the correct ones to use?

Re: please do not tag default vlan in "add if missing" mode

MT, I respectfully request that you never produce hardware again that can't be used to do such a simple (AND STANDARD) task. It is like having DHCP on a router but not being able to specify scope size/range. It's useless. This is something that should have been looked at from the beginning. Please ...

Re: please do not tag default vlan in "add if missing" mode

the real issue is that you need to be able to tag or untag any vlan on any port, plain and simple
(apart from standard rules that you can only have 1 untagged vlan on a port)

they need to either stop advertising vlan features or fix it to operate as all other vlan switches do

Re: please do not tag default vlan in "add if missing" mode

if default vlan wasn't being tagged when "add if missing" was selected it would solve this problem as well

what we really need is an option just like every other web managed switch that allows you tag or untag each port when on vlan membership

Re: core switch to mikrotik to unifi (with vlans)

After digging around more, it appears this is just a problem with the mikrotik switch (SwOS). I suppose this makes it a good low-cost "simple" switch but it is not up to par with other low-cost web managed switches. Every other web managed switch I've worked with allows you to selectively ...

core switch to mikrotik to unifi (with vlans)

wondering if anyone has been able to make the scenario below work with a mikrotik switch core switch (procurve in this case) vlan trunking to mikrotik switch (RB250GS w/ SwOS) ubnt unifi AP plugs into mikrotik switch needs to service vlan10 and vlan20 ubnt controller is on vlan10 I'm basically runni...

Re: VLAN problems

The mikrotik switches are great if you are doing vlans and trunking. I only wish they had them with higher port density. I have a network with a mix of SwOS and RouterOS and a main vlan switch (trunking etc etc...back to a firewall). There are some 750Gs on that network that are just running in a si...

Re: 450G Dead?

Had two 450Gs give up the ghost, appears to be the same problem as in this thread.

Any idea where to get 620uf/6.3V OS-CON? I can't seem to find any online. Alternatives?

Re: firewall off, no nat, null route question

From my past techie experience (haha) I learned that null / blackholing is much less CPU intensive than dropping packets. So using blackhole instead of drop is probably more efficient I would think. Just my guess really.
good to know, I will blackhole instead moving forward

Re: firewall off, no nat, null route question

awesome, thx

I assume you can do host routes without a problem so the end user is 1.2.3.4 it would be

/ip route add dst-address=1.2.3.4/32 type=blackhole

...I sure am liking RouterOS...I am now prefering it over Cisco IOS heh

Re: firewall off, no nat, null route question

I added it in IP Route Rules which seemed to do the trick

src-address=x.x.x.x/32 dst-address=0.0.0.0/0 action=drop

wasn't sure how/where to put in route type=blackhole

firewall off, no nat, null route question

Is it possible to null route an ip address and/or subnet in RouterOS?

no NAT and the firewall is off, using it strictly as a router.
