Re: Check Gateway Ping doesnt work with ECMP !

Just an update. I wanted to check if "check gateway by ping" in ECMP was fixed and I tested MikroTik RouterOS v7 beta. ECMP seems to have vanished from it's usual place. At least in first glances it is not there. The method Chupaka described, works great though, so no reason to wait for v7 for this ...

We found the solution. We fixed this issue by putting in the hotspot's ip bindings the MAC of every CAP, and on each CAP a ping of the CapsMan ip address through netwatch was needed.

Maybe this was needed cause of the Cisco switches in the middle of this setup.

Re: access different lan subnet from RB450G

You must put a 10.0.0.x ip in the rb450 in the eth5 interface, and also enable proxy-arp in it.

The ip is needed to make the router able to ping the switch, the proxy-arp is needed to make the roadwarrior able to ping the switch.

That isn't a function of MikroTik but of the Motherboard of your PC. Most of ATX systems have it. You have to look in the BIOS settings and find something like: "..last power state".. That'll do the trick.

Re: [help] mikrotik + NTop...??

You must activate traffic flow in IP -> Traffic Flow and enter the Ip address that has Ntop...everything then is done in Ntop.

I'm using CactiEZ 0.4 and is really easy to setup..

Installing on a 1GB CF

Hello. I just bought a 1GB CF (takeMS) and i was experimenting to install RouterOS on it. I managed to install a x86 version and the PC recognizes it, does the installation but when it reboots it doesn't boot in RouterOS but just says "error loading operating system". i checked all the bios settings...

For sure you can do it.

I prefer Cacti. You can configure a Centos Server with Cacti and there are also nice templates for RouterOS.

Any plan for a Higher Processor in a RB150

Hey guys.

I really like the RB150 for SOHO and mid range LANs. Does anyone one know for a plan to make a 150 with a higher processor??? (like the 133c to 411 evolution).

Re: Amplifier

I see that the RBKAO has a 65mw card. You can safely change it with a R52H that is a 350mw card. With this change you'll have a noticeable increase in performance. Also important are the CPE. What CPE (routerboard and antenas) r u using?? and what is the distance you want to cover??

Re: how can I reset The OS

It depends..

If it is a routerboard you can access through console, change the booting interface and reinstall it.
If it is a PC based you have to reinstall it through CD or NetInstall...

Bothways you'll loose all the setup (so you'll have to restore it from a backup) hopping you have done it.

MT is NOT a server. Ashish is right that you can use it as a ftp server but the capabilities may be a little low. For a mail and web server than you just CAN'T do it with MT. My advice would be to let MT do the routing and QOS, etc (cause it is really really brave at it) and use a linux distro (any ...

As far as i now..the MT can only function as a router not as a PBX in a Voip scenario. So you'll need a PBX to do the job..and MT to route.

Re: What do you recommend for back up electricity?

A low budget solution for 2 RB532 has been:

A 1200VA PowerTREE UPS as charger
The RBs are connected directly to the batteries.

Result: at least 32Hours of life without AC.

It's strange that just the DHCP "just" stops working. Try to resetup it and check the Ip Pools.
Anyway...The best solution would be a CentOS Server with squid and cacti (for statistics)...and you'll have a reliable caching and monitoring.

With the low cost RB150 that is a SOHO router i think Routerboard wants to impact these type of clients.
Here in Albania, ADSL is widely used by the ISP and would be great to introduce the RB150 (if it had a ADSL interface) :):)

After 1 (notserious) reading i think the whole point is that sometime using winbox in a compromised router (a very very clever hacker) can inject a .dll in your machine. So, be careful to what r u connecting, 2.(more important) Use the SSH (not Sharm El Sheikh Airport :) ) everytime is possible.
