What RB to choose?

Hi. I'm trying to figure out which RB to buy to suite my needs. Currently I have rb951-2n which maxes out at around 90Mbit of bandwidth with cca 120 fw, nat and queue rules. My ISP provides me with 500/100 Mbit bandwidth and IPTV. Which RB would be sufficent to do nat routing and firewalling with me...

Internet access over multiple VLAN over wireless link

I have a FTTH access on the border of a city. My ISP provided me a 8 port switch, wich makes fiber to copper conversion and gives me one static and two dynamic IP addresses. My setup looks like this: FTTH==RB750==RocketM5------RocketM5==RB1100AH | | |>>>>>>>>>VLAN1<<<<<<<<<| |>>>>>>>>>VLAN2<<<<<<<<<...

If you want that IP addresses are automaticaly assigned on pppoe you must define IP address pool in pppoe settings.

I would like to make as simple as it can be done, without address translation, or do you think it is better to do NAT anyway, and why?

I want public IP on my PC, that is connected over wireless, to my home network. I have FTTH connection from my ISP, that is conected to switch, and from switch to my mikrotik router.

I'would like to set public IP on the other side of my network. My network is behind NAT. So how to do it? C'mon! Give me some houpe! =) I gave up Mikrotik Wireless just because when i did UDP test, the link could handle 100Mbit, but when i did TCP test, the link was cca. 30-40mbit and very unstable. Maybe i did something wrong, maybe i dont have enough knowledge. But still i would like to know how do yo...

2 links with SXT, some of the traffic is generated with btest. Ping is very low, speed is good. I hope that 3x3 will be at least like this. :D
Can you test your link with iperf and tcp protocol?

HI! I would like to share IPTV with my friend(he has diffrent ISP). I'm thinking of a tunnel from my RB750G to his 433AH, but there is a problem. I would't like to share anything besides IPTV. Ok, I don't know where i have missed that, because now it works.

Another question. How to portforward to vlan? Would like to portforward from my WAN IP to my local IP which is on ether3 and bridged with vlan(vlan ID 2).

Re: how to forward?

Me, and bakerman have the same problem, because, we'r using the very same router to access the net. So my(RB750G) setup is like that. ether1 is the gateway, ether2 has 172.16.1.0/28 subnet and vlan on it, ether3 has 10.0.0.0/16 subnet and is bridged with vlan on ether2. Ether2 is connected to server...

In switch mode, you can't monitor slave interfaces, only master, as far as i know. If you want to monitor each interface put RB in bridge mode.

HI!

I have a need to buy more capable router. So i need proposal.

It needs to be capable of doing:
10 to 20 vlans
serve up to 50 pppoe connections
radius server
IGMP Proxy

I'm thinking of buying RB600 or RB800 with 816 expansion board, but I don't know the capability of these devices.

Re: R52Hn strange readings

Changed to 5375MHz, and signal readings are better now, but CCQ is still bad, I beleve that is because of interference. Will try to change polarisation tomorow.

If the angle and distance is small enough you could use sector antenna at AP side and two pannels at client side.

Re: R52Hn strange readings

@aaa

One antenna Chain 0 (both RX and TX), on one side 23dB pannel on the other side 24dB pannel, both horizontal polarizaton on 5640MHz. Have measured link length again on Google earth and it sais 7km.

5540MHz is my A to B link freq. So it's enough free freq. space between these two links.

Re: R52Hn strange readings

Tried with your setings, with no luck. I noticed, that at the one end, noise floor is -122dB, at the other end, sometimes its -109dB, sometimes -88dB, then I change a few channels and its -109dB back again for some time. We have another full operating link, at that location with UBNT Bullet M5 with ...

I've bought 2 R52Hn, and set a ~9km link, with LOS. The signal strength reading are weird and it's jumping a lot for about 10~20dB, or even more. (just look at the picture). Cards were never powerd ON without antenna attached. http://www.shrani.si/f/B/DV/3O03eWUG/readings.png http://www.shrani.si/f/...
