Re: 3.28 - wireless stop working after a couple of days

So it turns out we have several boxes behaving this way. These are mostly RB112 serving as little leaf nodes and dishing out 900mHz access to connections numbering from 3 to 10 clients. I've attempted to add supout generation to the script serving as a hack solution for this and which monitors for l...

Re: 3.28 - wireless stop working after a couple of days

For what it's worth we had another "event" today. This time I'd scripted the AP box to take a look at what was going on and report in prior to rebooting. Basic deafness; wlan interface apparently stopped hearing anything, midstream. I'm going to put the same script on another box or two an...

Re: RB411AH end-of-life, replacement plans?

If there are other RouterBoards that measure and can report the input voltage I'd love to know the model numbers. Bear in mind, what's useful for PV monitoring isn't the regulated voltage report such as what's available on the RB230 but instead the input voltage arriving at the barrel jack or POE. (...

While looking for some other information I just read that the RB411AH allows operators to monitor the -input- voltage to the board. MKT CPE does not pickup the request as it is not addressed to its MAC address of the antenna. As such, the router never gets the offered IP address. If you're using the typical ISC dhcp server, set "always-broadcast true" for the address class you're having trouble with, in dhcpd.conf. Th...

Perhaps the first thing to address is, "What am I selling?" Bandwidth? Connections? Convenience? Annoyance? Here in the U.S. we have approximately a fifth of the workers in our "healthcare industry" busily occupied with figuring out why people should --not-- get healthcare. It co...

the check disk sometimes gives out misleading messages, `errors corrected` often simply means that something had changed. We will improve it, meanwhile don't worry about it Heh! I was just searching the site to see if I could find some information on restoring an RB230 unit that had a handful of po...

Do a web search for SR5 cards and look at the specs. As the speed of the link is increased above 24Mbit, the power output of the card is reduced. 24Mbit is the highest rated speed that still produces 400mw output. By the time you get to 54Mbit, the output drops to 100mw. Yeah, good idea (doi!) , an...

Can anybody definitively say what's up with the power level vs. frequency vs. rate with these cards? Elsewhere on this board I've read that the SR5 reduces power when run below the 5.8 band. Here on this thread there's a hint of that: "I would sugesst to set the freq on SR5 5800 in turbo mode. ...

As ejansson says, it can work. We have a small handful of users at these distances but it's a matter of pure luck as they happen to be up on hillsides and can see APs that also happen to be highly elevated on topography. There's also the matter of then having to set very wide ACK windows for these u...

I saw the calibration note, but I have only turned it on on a short test link I have running, so far. I can only think that maybe I am picking up some interference from far away when conditions are ideal. Unless of course, it *is* temperature related. It doesn't cause much of a problem because it i...

U.FL versus MMCX connectors (or, why go microscopic?)

Rant about connectors here. U.FL connectors are touted as "the world's smallest" coaxial connectors. This is just fine for teeny-weeny applications such as the guts of a cell phone or when packed into a laptop but not so great for applications on a more normal physical scale and especially...
