Mikrotik (6.0rc14) DNS bug (TCP/53 vs. >512-byte answers)

Problem: Mikrotik (6.0rc14) DNS accepts 'truncated' DNS responses as answer instead of retrying the query via TCP. Symptoms: When Mikrotik is configured to use Ziggo DNS (213.51.129.37), com-services.pandonetworks.com is not resolvable. When Mikrotik is configured to use UUnet DNS (193.79.242.39), ...

Re: RB1100 alternative

I have tested ROS version 5 on them and they work fine. But they only have two ethernet ports. If Mikrotik released a 4 port PCIe 10/100/1000 NIC, that would make the Supermicro more interesting as a router. Supermicro has 2x10GE and 4xGE PCIe NICs: http://www.supermicro.nl/products/accessories/add...

Re: CPU usage "/tool profile" vs. "/system resources"

From your attached picture I see CPU Frequency=1199MHz. Is this a RB1100 or sth else? :) It's an overclocked RB1100. But clocking it back to 800MHz makes no difference. As for the difference, could it be that the profiler is calculating the CPU usage based on the average for a period of time? Just ...

Re: CPU usage "/tool profile" vs. "/system resources"

3) connection tracking is disabled on this device. Any other idea? Have you checked all the submenus under /ip firewall? Are there any nat or mangle rules, including dynamic ones (tcp mss adjustments on vpn links)? This is the entire output: [admin@rb1100-1] /ip firewall> export # feb/22/2011 16:20...

Re: CPU usage "/tool profile" vs. "/system resources"

1) do not know. I would strongly suspect only MT can tell you, from a supout.rif 2) no, you cannot. 3) 'firewall' likely includes connection tracking. You may be able to turn that off depending on what your router is used for. http://wiki.mikrotik.com/wiki/Manual:Connection_tracking lists the affec...

Re: CPU usage "/tool profile" vs. "/system resources"

because its RB1100 - its office router and this router not very powerfull ) Thanks for your answer, but that does not answer the questions, 1) Why is there an almost 100% difference in output of CPU usage between "/tool profile" and "/system resources"? 2) Can I disable queuing ...

CPU usage "/tool profile" vs. "/system resources"

Hello, I have a few RB1100 running full-table BGP (BGP sessions with 7 routers, only IBGP). I'm doing ~100Mbps traffic currently and I have a few questions about CPU usage: Question 1: I check the "/system resource", I see: [admin@rb1100-1] /system resource> print ... cpu-load: 26% When I ...

Re: Cannot set RB1100 MTU above 1600 bytes

Sorry, user error.

ether11-13 on RB1100 are limited to 9116 bytes. 9192 is larger than 9116.

Strange though, because ether1-10 which are behind the switchchip can do 9498.

Re: Cannot set RB1100 MTU above 1600 bytes

Ahh, the syntax is different. This was confusing me. [admin@m2] > /interface ethernet set numbers=1 l2mtu=9192 failed to update l2mtu [admin@m2] > /interface ethernet set ether2 l2mtu=9192 [admin@m2] > Thank you for your fast response! This is unintuitive though, because all other settings in Router...

Cannot set RB1100 MTU above 1600 bytes

Not sure if this is a hardware, software or usererror. I have tried on RouterOS 4.10, 5b3 and 5b4. I have two RB1100 and I cannot set MTU >1600: [admin@m2] > /interface print Flags: D - dynamic, X - disabled, R - running, S - slave # NAME TYPE MTU L2MTU 0 R ether12 ether 1500 1600 1 R ether13 ether ...

Re: VPLS RouterOS <-> JUNOS BGP signalling problem

Do you have any time-period for this?

I will be moving these RB1100 in production soon and then I will no longer have a large amount to test with.

Re: VPLS RouterOS <-> JUNOS BGP signalling problem

Is there anything I can help with? I currently have 1 M10, 2 RB1100 and some M40s in my testsetup. Would it help to have temporary access to this setup? It would make the routerboards much more valuable for me, and propably others, if they would interoperate with the large installed base of Junipers...

Re: VPLS RouterOS <-> JUNOS BGP signalling problem

Mplsguy/jasejames, Has this ever been resolved? I have a Juniper M10 running 10.0R1.8 and Mikrotik RB1100 running 4.9 and I am running into the same problem. First I also had the "Invalid label-block for real advertisement" and when I googled on this, this forum post is in the only one of ...

feature request: dynamic DHCP

dhpcd on Linux supports dynamic options, like: if not exists gpxe.bus-id { filename "gpxe/undionly.kpxe"; } else { filename "gpxe/menu.gpxe"; } See http://www.etherboot.org/wiki/appnoted#how_to_setup_the_dhcp_server for a use-case or http://forum.mikrotik.com/viewtopic.php?f=2&am...

Is it possible with RouterOS to hand out different filenames based on a DHCP option? In my Linux dhcpd I have: if not exists gpxe.bus-id { filename "gpxe/undionly.kpxe"; } else { filename "gpxe/menu.gpxe"; } http://www.etherboot.org/wiki/appnoted#how_to_setup_the_dhcp_server for ...
