Re: How to enable system health ?

Is it really even working on your other machine? What I mean is, if it is an x86 (PC) where are the +12 and +5 volt rails? what is it monitoring in the voltage? Also, what the heck is reading at -2 degrees C, is this board outside in the snow? Sorry, I know this really doesn't help, but it seems str...

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I think you need a routerboard for this function to work. Maybe also your chipset is not supported.

Re: Home Wifi Build

First of all, is cost an issue? A base 493 with case, 2x wireless cards, antenna's and connectors, will cost around $265 USD. Do you need/want Gigabit ethernet (add about $50 for 493G)? I don't believe you can combine 2x wireless cards for better speed, (at least not for consumer devices, I.E. Lapto...

Does the same for me on a RB450G.

Re: RB450G: is it the right choice?

I had a simular need/want. I run 15 - 30 clients/devices. I have a RB450G (I did not want to upgrade if I needed more performance.) All wired connections are 1Gbps, and I use a well known rival to MikroTik for my Access Point(s) . Your off-the-shelf router, if conigured properly should suffice as an...

Re: How many DHCP leases will RB450G handle?

Someone correct me if I'm wrong...

If i'm not mistaken, as long as the DHCP server does not lose power, the lease is still active, and the client MAC Address does not change, when the client reconnects it will get the same/previous IP Address.

Hope this helps.

Re: User information (Mikrotik 3.22 + Freeraius 2.0.4 + MySQ

The quides at infodotnet seem to be from 2007 and use version 2.9.43 of RouterOS. I suspect this as an issue, since there have been improvements to RouterOS since then.

Re: RouterOS v4.7 released

it's quite easy to get mentioned brand routers for that price. depends on what you need.

one of the reasons why RouterOS is still the best :)

Exactly, ~$100 routers with the support that goes on here, Well worth the occasional bug... :)

But... bashing will... and, does happen. :(

Trial and error is going to get you most of the way. Search the forums and wiki for each topic/feature you want to setup. If you need it fast, you probably need to hire a consultant. What version of RouterOS are you trying to setup?

Try downloading a large file from a site known to be slow, then you have to get the file out of your local cache on the pc downloading this file, (or move to another machine) then download file again and see if you get it at full LAN speed. Depending on how your squid server is setup you could check...

Re: RB250GS - Use Ideas

Intriguing idea, I kinda thought it might work as a sort-of port expander for a 750G or such. I do wish it was a RB280GS, 8 ports if I understand naming convention right. As far as it running off of 12v, I don't see why not if the specs say 9-28v, 12v is somewhere in the middle.

There is no true-fire way to block torrent, search the forums and you will understand what I mean. I admit this is both good and bad, in that torrent has it's advanages in lowering server load from the main host, but kills an ISP bandwidth.

We sail not only routerboard but also power supplies and technical services. The users always consider that our prices aren’t expensive because they don’t compare the prices with which they find on Google. Thus the users easily accept our prices and it’s much more beneficial to the products’ market...

Maybe I'm wrong, but I think what we're talking about here is rebranding, (ie trying to pass it off as your own work) not whether you can make a profit from selling/setting them up.

Unfortunatly, it seems (to me) you just have to try the card to see if it works. I am using a 2GB PNY card in my 450G that cost me $2.50 USD (got in a pack of 2 for $5 USD) and it works fine. Xymox posted their 2GB PNY didn't work although.

I use a PicoStation 2HP and a RB450G. (Very stable) Like the above poster said, you might not be able use such a high power device in your country. A standard PicoStation 2 and a RB750G (unless you only need 100Mbit) would do fine for a beginner Router/AP and not break the bank. (Approx $115 USD)
