CHR + Vmware ESXi 6.7u3 and MPLS

Good evening I am looking at changing the design of our network to save public IPv4 addresses and need some advice. At the moment, we are running 2 instances of CHR on 2 dedicated boxes each running VMware ESXi 6.7u3 with dual-channel 10G NICs going into a switch mesh to avoid any SPOF. We are wanti...

Using OSPF on private ranges to route internet traffic

Good evening We have a lot of public /30s in our network for simple point to point links between base stations and with the shortage of v4 beginning to bite, I wondered is there another way of using internal addressing for these links without OSPF causing issues? In the past, we have tried internal ...

OSPF and Radius behavour

Hi all We have deployed OSPF on all of our routers with a loopback address assigned to an empty bridge but when the unit sends an access request to the radius server, the source IP address is the interface it exited on and not the loopback address assigned to the box. This is not a big problem until...

Re: Problem with Hotspot and Apple products

Thanks aoakeley for your post.

We do not have any DNS resolving locally for security. Everything points to google public DNS. The only way to reach the hotspot is via IP address. Could this be the problem?

Thanks

Re: my router shocke power.....

Hi mnsmill There is a high chance the graph data was stored in the RAM memory and was lost when the power failed. Typically storing the data in the onboard flash will create a huge amount of read/write operations and will kill the flash over time! Look at setting up remote syslog or consider the dud...

Hi Deac and thanks for the advice

Device is now updated to 5.5.4 but still suffers the same issue

I did notice it was using WPA2 AES so i downgraded it to WPA AES but this has not stopped the drops.

Is there anything else that can be changed to stabilize the link?

Thanks. Jon

In radiusmanager when you added the new NAS did you hit "restart radius server" under tools?

Its a very common mistake and people spend hours trying to find out why their radius is not responding (including us in the past)

We had an issue with SSTP on that build a while back. Simply disabling it or upgrading to ROS5.22 or above fixed it.

I have the exact same issue on a RB1100AH with 6/7 clients. ROS 5.19 AND ROS 5.20

MT confirm its a bug and will be fixed next release. Can you get away with using L2TP/PPTP? We have to use SSTP because one of our cable providers blocks the other 2!

Best of luck

Also forgot to add. If the user has connected their machine first before the MAC user is created we have to go on the controller and remove the DHCP lease so the device can auth next time its seen. This is also a pain but would be cured if PPPoE and hotspot can exist together
