Just tried yor btest and am getting: /tool bandwidth-test 87.121.0.45 user=neterra password=neterra direction=both status: can not connect duration: 0s etc. I your btest server also demanding a latest version of ROS? If so it makes it somewhat unusable for me and many I know.

Re: PPTP with no DNS

Here is a possible solution.

I noticed setting "255.255.255.255" value to "DNS Server" field of PPP profile prevents DNS assign in Windows XP and Windows 10.
Interesting. I will give that a try. THANKS!!

Re: RB Metal AP stability

Yeah, and the problems vanished for a bunch of other around these parts too. This issue with the 2s has cost Mikrotik dearly in reputation. They took way too long to take it seriously. I no longer sing their praises.

Re: RB Metal AP stability

This update note came from Mikrotik. I followed it and my problems vanished. We have made some improvements for Metal 2SHPn could you please upgrade your metal 2 firmware by uploding this file http://www.mikrotik.com/download/share/ar7240_3_17_2_Metal_2SHPn.fwf to router then go in "/system rou...

Re: RB Metal AP stability

Yes, mine appears to be a different problem. With my link problems I have two metals either end of a link. The longest is 16Km. When the connection fails the registration vanishes. I can reproduce the problem 100% by causing one end to send maximum throughput for a long time. It is always the TX end...

Re: RB Metal AP stability

If someone is interested I can post it here. I am interested. I have no problems with metal 5GHz units o...

Change Simple Queue Bytes Values

HNY!

Is there any way to change/write to the bytes counters in simple queues?

I know how to read the values, and how to clear the counters, but I have not been able to find a way to write to the bytes counters.

Re: PPTP with no DNS

I sort out with it setting dns-server=8.8.8.8 in my ppp profile.
Its not a solution or a workaround. I want no DNS, so setting the Google DNS doesnt help at all.

subdomain static dns entries for web-proxy

I have set up a reverse proxy in a similar manner to that described at http://wiki.mikrotik.com/wiki/Multiple_Web_Servers and it is working well. I am redirecting external requests to distributed servers on a VPN based VLAN using the PPTP server on the same router as a hub. There are around 50 serve...

Re: PPTP with no DNS

I know this is an old topic but ... Has this problem been fixed yet? Having the router assign DNS when no DNS is defined in the PPP profile goes against all sense and must be a bug. Most PPP clients, including ROS, do not have the ability to refuse a DNS allocation without defining a replacement. Su...

Re: Router export file to server on LAN

Thanks for the guess. I found the problem. I have a NAT line in place which rewrites source IP addresses for internal IPs accessing LAN resources through the router by using the WAN address. I have found this necessary to make e.g. web server log files report the correct target and source addresses....

Re: Router export file to server on LAN

An update. It seems the transfer problem is as a result of the ftp server being on the LAN that the router routes. The router will ftp using fetch to an external (extranet) ftp server, but not to the internal (LAN based) one. I can ftp transfer to/from my ftp server from outside (extranet) and from ...

Re: Router export file to server on LAN

I can see how you would think there was sometning wrong with the ftp server, but it is also possible that fetch only works with ftp servers that behave in a certain way, using only a subset of the ftp protocol. Ftp servers are allowed to do connect announcements, and many do, but clearly fetch doesn...

Re: Router export file to server on LAN

Yes, did all that. I managed to get fetch to logon by disabling the connect announcement on the ftp server. That is not something I want to do permanently, but at least it proves that fetch is being confused by the connect announcement. Now fetch logs on OK but wont upload the file. It creates the f...

Re: Router export file to server on LAN

Thanks for the reply. Yes, you would think that would work, but fetch with mode=ftp and upload=yes is not robust and does not appear to deal properly with valid ftp server connect response texts. It gives "Unrecognized FTP server response" each time. I suspect it is not waiting for the 220...

Router export file to server on LAN

I am trying to find a way to regularly export backup files from my router (5.16) to a server on the LAN the router is connected to. The server has a working FTP server installed, and I have tried the router FTP client, but that seems quite broken because it always responds with "Unrecognized FT...

Re: Dude V4beta charts destroyed

You can configure the level of detail you wish to keep, and for how long: http://wiki.mikrotik.com/wiki/Manual:The_Dude/Server_settings#Chart For example, if you don't need the 5minute averages (quite detailed) you need to increase the 1Day keep time, and decrease the 5Min keep time, and so on. So ...

I just upgraded from V3.6 to V4beta3. Most of Dude seems OK but traffic charting has now become a NIGHTMARE.
