What happened after 3.13?

We run a trials MT x86 router on part of our network and it was rock solid up to v3.13. Although it is part of our wider network, this is a trials system. We have u/g'ded as each new version has come out. All these u/gs after 3.13 worked fine for a few days and then the hotspots all stopped working....

Radius Manager Pro 3.3.0

Hi, Does anyone know this software? Is it any good? I'm trying to find a solution which works well with Mikrotik (which it claims to do) and will allow account creation/credit automatically on payment. I'm in Europe and hosted systems don't seem to like PayPal and payments in currency other than US ...

Re: Allowing Pings from WAN

There are three Dynamic rules on my x86 MT which refer to ICMP hs-unauth-to: icmp host prohibited hs-unauth: icmp net prohibited hs-unauth-to: tcp reset I tried deleting them and putting in new copy rules set to 'accept' I still couldn't get a ping response. (the Dynamic rules are replaced on reboot...

Allowing Pings from WAN

Hopefully this is a quick one and someone will know the answer right away.

What do I have to set up so that an x86 MT responds to pings coming in on it's WAN interface?

Thanks,
Martin

Re: SMTP server behind MT Router

Thanks - I'm beginning to think something isn't working properly on the Exchange Server because after your last rule, the remote web access and rdc work fine again.

It may be something to do with changing the IP on the server to sit it behind the MT router.

SMTP server behind MT Router

I have an MT x86 box with 3 NICS 1- WAN is connected to DSL (fixed public IP) 2- (10.0.8.1) - has a WLAN hotspot on it which runs just fine 3- (192.168.254.200) - is connected to a Small Business Server (IP 192.168.254.1) with an admin network running from it. Re: NetInstall ... Waiting for drivers

Version 3.3 sorted it out. There was a long pause with the Waiting for Drivers message .... then it ran OK.

Not the same subject but I ticked the 'Keep Settings' box and it didn't.

Luckily I had also backed everything up before trying the upgrade.

NetInstall ... Waiting for drivers

I'm trying to use the latest NetInstall to upgrade an x86 to v3.4. I created a floppy with NetInstall and then put it in the x86. Message comes up listing all the NICs MAC addresses etc and a message 'Waiting for Drivers'. I can't work out how to either skip this, or put the drivers in. There is not...

Erik, thanks for the information and also for your advice. I had taped the U.fls in place for the same reason, but hot glue sounds much more robust.

R52H Cards - 'A' ant & 'B' ant - also power settings

I've had a good search through the forum, but I may have missed the answers I was looking for. Can anyone point me to, or answer the following questions about R52H cards. 1) The cards have two ant U.fl connectors, one marked 'MAIN' and the other 'AUX' on the board. Which of these corresponds to 'ant...

Re: Legal requirement for (W)ISPs to log urls browsed by clients

An interesting follow on here - earlier this week we had a '06.00 knock' from the french police. Apparently someone had accessed a peadophile website using our free (but account based) hotspot in mid January. It had been traced back to us via our fixed IP by a specialist police unit based in Paris -...

Re: RB532 with MaxRAD individual fed

As a matter of interest are you planning to have all 3 wireless cards on the same channel? If so does the bridging deal with possible interference problems? I'm looking at a similar arrangement to boost the power of my hotspots. I know adjacent cells should be properly channel separated ... so all i...

Examples of Basic Setups

Can anyone point me to examples of basic/typical network set-ups. There used to be some at the end of the manual but they don't seem to be there now. Specifically I want to set up a x86 server at a base (level 6) with eth to ADSL and running User Manager. I want it to connect to (currently) one 532a...

IP Conflicts - just started after 1 year

We have a small WiFi Hotspot running on an MT v2.9.6 router with two Linksys WRT54G APs connected via NICs to the MT. One of the two Linksys AP's is in WDS with a third Linksys WRT54G 500m away to extend range. None of the WRT's is running DHCP, they just pass out IP's from the MT DHCP range on the ...

ip firewall> nat add chain=dstnat interface=eth01 dst-port=82 protocol=tcp action=dst-nat to-addresses=192.168.254.1 to-ports80

Legal requirement for (W)ISPs to log urls browsed by clients

Recent changes in legislation in various European countries (mainly counter-terrorism, porn etc) mean that ISPs (including WISPs) must keep logs showing all urls visited by clients to whom they provide a service. There are several logging possibilities in Mikrotik - but is there a simple way of gene...
