Best Core Router for Web Caching and Centralized Billing?

Long story short, I would like to basically replace my server rack with 1 device, and have consolidated everything down to functions that RouterOS can replace. My thought was the RB...

Re: Category:Manual - Mikrotik Wiki

I am brand new to all of this and I got the RB450G in today. No former knowledge of Cisco, etc. Fortunately, I have successfully Updated and Upgraded the Firmware, the OS, and the License. It was not the most user friendly for a n00b, but I was successful with the Manual Wiki. Thank you. Next, more ...

Re: Inexpensive Starter Core Router?

If you're looking to use proxy research first if RouterOS proxy is adequate to your needs. RouterOS proxy is very rudimentary. Gotcha, I've noticed you can embed Squid on the RB450G using Metarouter. http://www.tiktube.com/?video=300 fast forward to 11:30 of this presentation Unfortunately, Metarou...

Re: Inexpensive Starter Core Router?

That depends on your uplink speed and number of concurrent(!) users. I'd say for most things a RB750 is already enough but if it's not for 200 concurrent(!) users you can't do much wrong with a 450G. The RB750 certainly looks very nice for the price point, but does not have a MicroSD slot (which I ...

Pardon my ignorance - a few questions

#1 Are you required to have 2 routers for bonding? - I have 1 office with 2 seperate ISPs coming in, and was hoping I could use 1 router to bond with.

#2 User Manager - Is there an option for Automatic Billing?

#3 Hotspot - Does RouterOS have a completely customizable splash page?

RouterOS on VMWare ESXi 3.5

Hello,

I have 2 servers running VMWare ESXi 3.5 (not ESXi 4.x)

Both of these servers do not support 64-bit virtualization.

I would like to test RouterOS as a Virtual Appliance.

Has anyone been able to set this up successfully?

Thank you
