Re: Oops

Ok, got a reply from support to do a netinstall of 4.11. Am stable again and going to leave the beta alone for a while. Bit of a pain rolling back, as the export scripts from 5 aren't all compatible with 4. It would be nice if the export script didn't contain options that are the default. So if opti...

Re: Oops

Looking at the support link on the site, it seems I'm not eligible for support as I bought my routerboard from wifi-stock.com, not from mikrotik directly.

Oops

I installed 5.0beta6 and am getting continuous oops issues requiring pulling the power supply to get running again. Unfortunately I can't do a /system package downgrade after ftping the 4.11 packages as that also provokes an oops. System is an RB433UAH with an R52 Typically I get something like this...

Re: RIP routes ignored

Solved. Damn! I had to add a network in /routing rip network. I presumed the interface was sufficient. Thanks for your help.

Re: RIP routes ignored

I decided to try rip v1 too. Now it's broadcasting instead of multicasting, the firewall filter (accept) is seeing the packets, but still no updated routes listed. RIP is now configured to receive v1-2

Re: RIP routes ignored

Tried that, no difference. I also tried adding a firewall rule specifically to allow traffic from port 520 and although I see the traffic in Torch, I don't see any in the firewall counters. It seems like it's not listening to multicast traffic. I should add this is on 5.0b6.

Re: RIP routes ignored

Let's say I have the mikrotik with interface ether1 and address 192.168.1.1/24 I have a router with eth0 as 192.168.1.2/24 and eth1 as 192.168.2.1/24 I turn on RIP on the router so that it tells the mikrotik the route to 192.168.2.0/24 On the mikrotik I should now be able to ping 192.168.2.1 once it...

Re: RIP routes ignored

I don't want to distribute the routes, I just want mikrotik to know about them. It's the default gateway for everything so doesn't need to distribute any routing information.

RIP routes ignored

I want to propagate some simple routes on my network so configured RIP. With wireshark, I can see the RIP routes being multicast to 224.0.0.9, and in Torch, I can see the rip traffic. All traffic is allowed on that interface but no routing updates are imported. I turned on rip debugging but don't se...

Re: Mikrotik as cisco VPN client

Finally got round to actually doing this. For anyone else who needs to run vpnc, here's what I did: Follow the instructions here: http://wiki.mikrotik.com/wiki/Manual:Metarouter importing the openwrt image into the metarouter. Get a copy of vpnc and the tun.ko kernel module. I compiled them which wa...

Re: Mikrotik as cisco VPN client

Solved! (well sort of).

Thanks to a suggestion from elsewhere, I've just created a metarouter VM within which I can run vpnc.

Re: Mikrotik as cisco VPN client

The reason I bought a RouterBoard was because I was fed up of installing linux distributions and endlessly configuring them, so I've been trying to replace everything with RouterOS. It's about 38C in my office and I'm trying to switch off as many things as I can. If I could know one more laptop off ...

Re: Mikrotik as cisco VPN client

Suppose I don't mind losing tech support? Can I download the linux and other GPL sources and modify my build? If I get vpnc working I'd be happy to contribute the information to the wiki or to MikroTik. From a quick search, there appear to be quite a few people who would like to get vpnc working on ...

Re: Mikrotik as cisco VPN client

No. You cannot put custom code on RouterOS.
Er, doesn't RouterOS have a linux based kernel? If so, why is it not possible to put custom code on it?

Re: Mikrotik as cisco VPN client

I've got a laptop dedicated to running vpnc as that's the only thing I can't do on mikrotik. I can't configure the other end so I'm stuck with running vpnc.

Would it be possible for me to cross compile vpnc and get it running on my RB433?

Replace vpnc+securid

I have a linux laptop which was previously acting as my gateway machine with a couple of 3G cards plugged in. I'm trying to retire it and currently about the only thing it's doing is acting as a gateway to my work VPN. To connect I do this: # vpnc myco Enter password for me@vpngw.myco.com: 123412345...

Re: Per-client DHCP settings

Oh wow. That isn't obvious (to me!) at all. In linux I set it up in the static lease for the specific mac address.

Thanks. I'll try it.

Per-client DHCP settings

Is it possible to, for example, send different DNS server settings via DHCP to different clients?

Re: rb433uah installation without serial port

In the meantime (prior to post approval), I found a serial cable and hooked it up. It seems it's a problem with POE. I tried a different using the existing cable and powering the board directly and DHCP works, and I tried a different cable and that seems to work (sometimes). It's just not reliable t...

rb433uah installation without serial port

Apologies as this must be a really basic question but I can't find the answer. I've just received a new rb433uah. It has a serial port but I don't have a gender bender available to connect it to a pc (20 years ago I'd've had 10 on my desk...). So, I presumed I'd just be able to get it to dhcp over t...
