Re: cAP-ac Throughput & High Ping Problems

Thanks to those that have provided suggestions on this ongoing CapsMan & wireless config issue. I tried using CapsMan to automatically reselect the frequency on each of the 29 cAP-ac units in this 360,000 sq ft warehouse, but I found that too many of the APs were using the same 5ghz frequency. Becau...

Re: cAP-ac Throughput & High Ping Problems

Having the cAPs automatically assigned from several frequencies every 15 minutes sounds like an easier approach.
Where to a find the setting in CapsMan for the cAPs do a channel reselect every 15 minutes?

Re: cAP-ac Throughput & High Ping Problems

Thank you Escandor and MKX!
Is the identity name used in CapsMans set directly on each cAP under the menu system\identity, or somewhere else?

Re: cAP-ac Throughput & High Ping Problems

Thank you MKX and DSK for your suggestions! After doing a bunch more testing, I found that the high ping times continue to be a problem even when all but one cAP unit is turned off and the single remaining cAP is configured as a stand alone AP, not configured by CapsMan. Further testing found that t...

Re: cAP-ac Throughput & High Ping Problems

Thank you for your suggestions. We have installed the cAP units in a zigzag format throughout the warehouse, skipping every other row. I have assigned channel 1 through CapsMan, believing that the cAP units would share the airtime on channel 1, as long as there are no other strong interference sourc...

cAP-ac Throughput & High Ping Problems

We are running into a problem keeping stable wireless connections to the new cAP-ac units we purchased installed at our client's location. I have just completed significant onsite troubleshooting of the problem, but haven't found a solution yet. I am hoping someone on the forums can assist. The Prob...

Re: Dial-In L2TP/IPsec not connecting when co-existing with site to site IPsec [SOLVED]

Thx Sindy for the excellent troubleshootly and suggestions! Yes, the isp provisions static public ip addresses by NATing 1:1 with the private ip address assigned the the client router WAN port. I hadn't thought about the fact that the public IP being connected TO was not actually on the WAN interfac...

Dial-In L2TP/IPsec not connecting when co-existing with site to site IPsec [SOLVED]

I having trouble setting up dial-in L2TP for remote workers on a Mikrotik router that already has a working site-to-site IPsec tunnel between two networks. I suspect that the IPsec settings for the site to site tunnel are interfering with the IPsec portion of the dial-in connection. The remote clien...

Configuring L2TP with IPsec along with static IPsec

According to the Wiki, as of ROS version 6.16 L2TP with IPsec is supported. http://wiki.mikrotik.com/wiki/Manual:Interface/L2TP I would like to use this VPN type for remote workers, but I am concerned that implementing IPsec to be used with L2TP will cause the existing static site to site IPsec peer...

One more thing you should not have ether1 in the bridge! Thanks for catching my mistake! I have changed the configuration so that ether2 (the LAN) is part of the bridge and not ether1. Now I AM able to establish a PPTP connection from a notebook and I am able to access my server resources on the of...

Re: PPTP Server Configuration for dynamic IP windows clients

Hi! I think you should use your user name to create the pptp interface. You have to say that this interface is for this user. In PPP: ppp secret> add name="user-1" service=pptp password="******" profile=pptp-in local-address=10.1.2.1 remote-address=10.1.2.2. Sure you have IP with this. If you creat...

PPTP Server Configuration for dynamic IP windows clients

I am trying to setup a PPTP server on our office router that is a RB532 running 2.9.35. The router is currently routing between a WAN IP of x.x.159.7/28 on ether1 and a private IP of 192.168.20.1/24 on ether2. It is configured as Masq & DHCP server for 192.168.20.0/24 on ether2. All the present conf...

I recently purchased 4 SBE cards directly from SBE. They were good to work with and shipped one of them overnight for me since I was in a bind. We switched from a Cisco 7200 with a DS3 card over to a Mikrotik box with the SBE DS3 card about 2 months ago. We have had some issues with CRC errors that...

You can probably find a used Cisco 3640 with DS-3 interface for less than the price of a PC DS-3 card. Thats what I have heard from several WISP operators. Thanks for the input. One of the reasons I am interested in the PC DS3 card option is because I don't have much experience in Cisco IOS. I am m...

We have outgrown our multilink t1 circuits and have placed an order for our first DS3 circuit. Now we have to decide whether to use a cisco router with a ds3 interface card in it connect the ds3 to our MT core router or try a wan ds3 pci card directly in the MT routder. I have read everything I can ...

 I love the Dud NMS and used Dude for several weeks, but it started to drive me crazy because it would send me an email alert if the ping service didn't respond to just one ping. I really need to find a way to tell Dude to only send a notification if a host does not respond at all. Another op...

I installed Dude beta 17 and spent a couple of hours manually seting up a map with about 25 hosts. Everything was working fine until I started to add another host. While I was adding the host, Dude stopped responding properly, so I shut down Dude and restarted it. Now Dude server starts up but I can...
