Re: Viewing route info via SNMP

This is now really starting to hurt my network monitoring and outage notifications. Can anyone tell me how to monitor routes in ROS v6?

Viewing route info via SNMP

Hi, I've been using Dude SNMP probes to check the gateway for certain routes on my core routers. I use this to get an alert/outage notification when a route changes to the non-preferred gateway (i.e. link failure of some sort and OSPF routes away from it). On version 5 everything is fine but on Vers...

Re: Monitoring OSPF path status, is it possible?

It might be a bit clunky but I've set up a Dude probe for each OSPF router. The probe checks the default gateway value (but you could use any route that makes sense). If OSPF decides to use a backup link, the default gateway will change and I'll get an email from The Dude. The probe is an SNMP probe...

Re: H.323 NAT for video conference

I'm not certain if the other end is also using NAT. There's about 20 sites they need to communicate with. But, you're saying that it won't work if both are NAT'd? I have already set up the NAT rules but the remote end is still trying to use the local/privat IP for my Video device which would suggest...

H.323 NAT for video conference

Have had a request to enable functionality to help H.323 (from polycom video conferencing systems) traverse NAT running on routerOS. The cisco commands they've asked for are: > 2) H.323 awareness > > Due to the nature of the protocol used by Polycom equipment, one of the > following commands should ...

Re: MUM in Australia. Would you come?

Don't really care where it's held, I'd certainly be attending.

Having it in Sydney would mean that we can send 4 techs to the conference.

Re: snmpwalk timeouts

Is there a way to stop RouterOS responding to SNMP requests for the routing table? In The Dude fourm gsandul supplied the link http://www.cisco.com/en/US/tech/tk648/tk362/technologies_tech_note09186a00800948e6.shtml to show how to turn off routing responses for Cisco. Is there anything similar for R...

Re: SNMP issues with BGP router

I'm using routerOS 4.5 on a Dell server. Yes, The Dude is grabbing (or trying to grab) the whole table (I can see the entries under the SNMP Routes tab in The Dude). I haven't seen the router generate much in the way of CPU usage, however I'm monitoring it with The Dude and the CPU data gathering ap...

SNMP issues with BGP router

I've noticed a few posters having trouble with enabling SNMP in the The Dude for routers that have a large number of probable entries (e.g. large routing tables). No resolutions have been posted that I could find. sergejs advised me not to download the routing table http://forum.mikrotik.com/viewtop...

Re: snmpwalk timeouts

When you say that it isn't recommended to run SNMP queries on a BGP router, do you mean that I shouldn't try to get any SNMP information from the router at all or just not run something large like the snmpwalk? I can try to tailor my monitoring to just use a few choice OIDs I suppose. At present the...

snmpwalk timeouts

I've noticed The Dude having trouble getting cpu and interface usage figures for my primary router from time to time. I ran some test snmpwalk commands and found they all time out at various points in the walk. If I rerun the snmpwalk immediately after the timeout, it too times out with no data retu...
