Re: Cloud Host Router (CHR) and CAPsMAN

Yes, there is no need to pass outgoing traffic via CAPMan.
Just set different/proper GW in the DHCP configuration and voilà ... Internet traffic passes by CHR.
Great thanks

Re: Cloud Host Router (CHR) and CAPsMAN

CHR has full funcionality at all license levels. The only difference is interfaces maximal speed. Free license level limits speed to 1Mb per interface. If it is sufficient then you have fully functional tool for CAPSMan. I am assuming when using a remote CAPsMAN setup like this, there is a minimal ...

only true fix is to add more APs

you could back haul them wirelessly with 5ghz and then serve the clients with 2.4

AP-WDS with Virtual AP

I am in the process of setting up 2 Basebox2s with both as AP-WDS, however I was wondering if I could create a virtual AP on each Basebox2 to serve the clients? The reason I want to do this so that the client knows what AP they are connecting to.

boretto,

no they can be on the same subnet 192.168.1.0/24 when you have them in WDS mode they are running on layer2 anyway, so really the IP address is really just for management. Plus if you keep them on the same subnet you don't have to worry about any routing.

doing this will create a lot of unneeded traffic, which will hurt the performance of your network.

the only true way to do this is with the ISP doing MLPPP on your DSL lines.

With mikrotik you can do load balancing between the 3 dsl lines but for true bonding your ISP has to support MLPPP
