Re: RouterBoard RB411 damaged?

Yes, occured because of overheating!

P.S. Siemens give warranty for their devices only if the working temperature didn't exceed 40 (Celsius). I guess there is some reason for that. Their PLC components have similar parts to RouterBoards (CPU,RAM,Flash), but work for many many years.

Re: RB450 Capacitors problem?

Took 1000 microfarads from dead motherboard, soldered in. Works fine. Another problem is the heat. Found 2 HDD fans, they fit fine as 1 part of the 450s box, but there is no place to connect them on the board! Some old boards have 3V pins for fans, this one doesn't :( Now i need another socket for a...

Dead ethernet ports

After changing capacitators in my RB450 (successfully) I suddenly experienced a paranormal need to solder some more :) So I changed the ethernet transformator (is it called coupler or what?) on an old 112 board. But still no ethernet link. Could the problem be further in the chips or I just soldered...

Reality doesn't care for your needs.
Change the omni antenna to some directional antennas (sectors), seperate wireless interfaces each. Will work just fine, if configured right. Don't use b/g, use g.

I allready answered this, but someone from the cool MT staff deleted my post. The answer is - add routes or disable filters, depends on version and what you've done in firewall. With 4.6 it works fine by default, must be disabled by firewall rules.

Well, first you need to TEST that dial-up perversion anyway, right? How to do it, if no with an old PC and trial/cracked RouterOS?
