Transmission and reception signal strengths

Hello, In the wireless registration table (using Winbox to visualize it), 1). Which is the difference between : Transmission signal strength (tx-signal-strength) and Reception signal strength (rx) ? Both are expressed in dBm. 2). What is the meaning of : Signal strengths (around 30 numbers) ? I am u...

Re: Mesh problem - Client cannot see all the Access points

can the radio ping each other? if no, then you are having configuration problem. As I have already said, all the Access points in the Wireless Distribution System can ping each other. So, there is total connectivity between the APs. When you add a client to any of the APs, then it can ping the AP t...

Re: Mesh problem - Client cannot see all the Access points

The laptop can see only ONE Access point : the one that gave the connection. But it cannot see the other Acces points of the WDS. what 802.11 mode that your laptop support it ? what 802.11 mode that your access point support it ? ( antenna mode ) All radio cards are configured to the same band (2.4...

Mesh problem - Client cannot see all the Access points

Hello everyone, I have built a mesh network using Mikrotik routers. I am happy because it works quite well. However, I have a problem. I am not sure if it is due to bad configuration or just because I do not understand how the mesh network should actually work. To begin with, the Wireless Distributi...

mesh single radio routing problem

Hello, I have built a single radio mesh network using HWMP. I am capable of pinging any Access Point of the Wireless Distribution System, using the tools provided by the router, from Winbox. Then, I add a client (my laptop) that receives a connection from one of the APs. From the client, I am able t...

Re: System health in RB433

Hello Fewi and EarthStation, Indeed, voltage monitoring IS allowed for the RB433UAH and IS NOT for the RB433. I have both, so I have checked. However my last question is not answered : Is there a way of enabling or upgrading the RB433UAH to have the other health indicators ? - temperature - cpu-temp...

Re: System health in RB433

Hello Fewi, Thanks for your quick reply. So, :local VOLTAGE [/system health get voltage]; :put $VOLTAGE; does the trick. I knew that RouterOs script syntax was a little strange, but I am getting used to it. And what about the other health indicators : - temperature - cpu-temperature - current - powe...

System health in RB433

Hello everyone, I have a RB433 UAH with RouterOs v.5.2 and my current firmware is 2.29. Also the package 'routerboard' seems to be enabled. So, it seems that everything is correctly installed. However, I am unable to obtain health values. Neither with Winbox, nor in the command mode. Is /system heal...

virtualization and serial port

Hello, I have installed an OpenWrt virtual machine on top of a Metarouter, in my RB433 router (MIPS). Is it possible to have acces to the serial and USB ports, from the virtual machine ? My goal is to install a small C program to read raw data coming from a GPS receiver, and then make it available t...

Adding our own mesh network routing protocol

Hello, Is it possible to add our own mesh network routing protocol ? If not, it would be an interesting feature for the next version of RouterOs. I am using the mesh networking capabilities of RouterOs. WDS with HWMP works well at a small scale (8 nodes). We are planning to scale up to 50 nodes. How...

Mesh network using HWMP - ARP resolving not working ?

Hello, I am testing a wireless mesh network using HWMP. It works well but only at layer 2 level. In fact, when I take a look at the /ip neighbors table I can only see the MAC addresses. /ip neighbor print #....INTERFACE......ADDRESS........MAC-ADDRESS...........IDENTITY........VERSION........UNPACK ...

Re: Parse ip scan output

Hello Chupaka, Thank you for your reply. Indeed, ip-scan is an interactive tool and cannot be used inside a script. However, I found a better way to get the list of IP addresses accessible through each RouterBoard. It is to take a look at the IP neighbors table. This method is quite nice and it is e...

Parse ip scan output

Hello, I am writing a script to do some performance tests on a mesh network. In this context, I would like to create an array having the IP addresses of the computers that are connected to my network. If I understand well, ip scan is the perfect tool to do this. However, I am unable to parse ip scan...
