Re: Log file spam with failed to pre-process ph2 packet error and wrong password error

OK, I did some more testing, I have a mix of 1. L2TP client connection 2. PPTP client connection 3. L2TP server If I enable 2 PPTP connection and L2TP server, from time to time it will display error message. At least it won't spam the log non-stop xx.xx.xx.xx parsing packet failed, possible cause: w...

I've seen this before a couple of times when no ipsec policies and proposals were defined but the other end had some proposals defined already. I think you should look into the router brand that is for home networking Well, I not really am into home networking... When I use VPN, I use it in the traditional way. I think you'll have to agree that the majority of routers do not support OpenVPN, you may be able to find the odd product that does, but not like client and server across the entire product line of the manufacture, which MikroTik does offer. The problem with OpenVPN on RouterOS is that it is a re-c...

@sdugoten: If it goes well, soon you may have some luck with NordVPN and IKEv2 ( see here ). Not that it would be an argument against full OpenVPN support. To be honest, IKEv2 is not as popular as OpenVPN. It's a bit too late. RouterOS in general is late. Having said that, I started to move my stuf...

If I'm reading your debug correctly, you're offering 3DES and 3DES/SHA1. You should be using the AES family anyway. DES, 3DES, and MD5 are deprecated.

I enabled every single one and still having the same problem.

Like jaytcsd mentioned, it is the pre shared key, on your ipsec configuration
If it is a ipsec configuration, I wonder if you have any example to do that for L2TP? Because most ipsec configuration would need the local IP address of the destination which obviously the VPN company won't provide.

Did you try adding it under IP / IPsec / Peer?
I know that's where it's used as an L2TP server.
For other router, L2TP client should come with a text field called "Secret"...just like the iphone. However, RouterOS just doesn't have it.

Hi, I am running routeros 5.21 and recently I found out I can't run the speedtest on this site. http://www.speedtest.com.hk/en/index.htm The windows version will let you download a binary to test the speed. The Mac version is actually an app run on OSX. None of those would work when I connect thru r...

Re: Mikrotik wireless N? - what product to use

R52Hn with mmcx to RP-SMA pigtail. And then you can buy antenna that used RP-SMA connector (which is most linksys router use) A lot easier to source for RP-SMA antenna than other type of connector... However, I have yet find a solution to securely lock the mmcx to RP-SMA pigtail on the case...the pi...

Re: Can't ping WAN IP address from outside

Pretty sure it is something do with RouterOS, I used to use a PIX 501 and I can ping just fine. I am thinking if this is something do with the dhcp-client which is not a static IP.

Re: Routing vs Bridging + NAT performance on RB800

Ok, I end up testing it myself. The setup is like this... Computer A (WAN) ---- RB800 ---- Computer B (LAN) I make 1 computer act like the WAN while another computer act like the LAN. Both on Giga port + i7 CPU machine. The test was copying one 2G size file from computer B to computer A over SAMBA (...

Re: RB800 real figure NAT speed

gonna place an order now, but would the case CA800 fit both RB800 and R52Hn in it? The uFl antenna is used for R52Hn ? Do I have to buy this antenna separately? I saw you have power supply on the product list as well? Do I have to buy it separately too? Which model I should use? Any all-in-one packa...

Re: RB800 real figure NAT speed

You read it correctly. The router has two ports, and the tests that we use utilize the absolute maximum speed possible, in this case, 1.6Gbps out of 2Gbps was achieved. Holy smoke...this is what I am looking for! Before I place an order on RB800, I got one more question. Do you guys have any test o...

Re: RB800 real figure NAT speed

Since ethernet frame size is 1500 bytes, so the corresponding NAT WAN to LAN according to the chart is 1615.15 Mbps? How can it be faster than the gigibit 1000Mbps? Or do I read the chart incorrectly?

RB800 real figure NAT speed

Actually, I am planning to buy a RB800, but I do have one question from anyone here on the board. What is the estimated NAT WAN to LAN speed for RB800? My local ISP here offer 1000mbs plan and I want to make sure the RB800 will be doing good enough with NAT. I will appreciate for any input. PS. Coul...
