Re: Mikrotik Rack-mounted Devices Visio Stencils

Really nice work. Are these stencils still being supported and updated as new devices come out?

And I’m sure you’ve been asked this before: for some of the really old stuff, such as the RB1200 or CRS226, could you be bribed to create them and add them them to your github repository?

Re: ROMON via vpn

I have not tried zero tier on Mikrotiks. Most of my routers are tile. Lots of arm in the field, mostly 3011/4011, but everything else is a 1009, 1036 or 1072. And I have just put my original 1200 back in service. I bought it/them when they were released. Must be a dozen years old. Pulled six of them...

Re: ROMON via vpn

I tend to connect directly from winbox, but I keep ROMON for "emergencies" and for things like what I'm working on today, where I'm duplicating a production network into a test network to work on MSTP. We've got 6 10Gb fiber connections for about 35 VLANS and we're adding a 10Gb radio and ...

Re: ROMON via vpn

Wow. Lots of highly technical responses, but no one actually gave him the answer. Hopefully he reads this: First, to those who ask "why you want ROMON when you've got a direct VPN to the other network?" This is the old why did the chicken cross the road question. To get to the other networ...

Re: 6.43 change in login process and API libraries?

Well that was easy...figured it out and patched my installed copy of the API code. I'll see if I can get this pushed as a change to the CPAN 1.0.5 version. Won't be today though, I've got testing to do on 6.45.1. For those of you in the US, have a great holiday! Code below. Added six lines, wrapping...

Re: 6.43 change in login process and API libraries?

Is there a fix out for this for PERL? Just upgraded a few devices from 6.44.x to 6.45.1 and now the API fails to log in. I have been using the CPAN installable which says it is version 1.0.5 and is up to date. I had forgotten about the change last year to the API login process, but it now appears to...

Re: v6.43.8 [stable] is released!

strods - I posted today's message before seeing your comment from a couple of days ago. I would, however, disagree with what you said. The release notes for 6.43.8 specifically say that performance was improved, but it was not. So yes, this is a 6.43.8 "issue" as well as a general softwar...

Re: v6.43.8 [stable] is released!

GIANT HINT FOR EVERYONE EXPERIENCING 1GB TO 10GB PERFORMANCE ISSUES: Throw out your 10Gb Mikrotik SFPs. Chuck them. The $159/ea Mikrotiks are the issue. I had a pair of FS.com brocade compatible 10GB 1310nm SFPs from another project. Swapped them in a link that was experiencing "wire speed"...

Re: v6.43.8 [stable] is released!

And of course I have to wait until the printers are finished what they are running now, since the printer file storage is NFS and the path passes through the same 317/226 (but to a different 109).

Sorry...meant to say a new CRS326 that arrived yesterday. Long day. One of the printers has been fighting me and requiring quite a bit of attention.

Re: v6.43.8 [stable] is released!

Nope. Haven't contacted support. I'm in the US on "eastern" time, so support lag time tends to be rather large. All parts in the connection are Mikrotik (no 3rd party SFPs involved), and the problem appears with a 10Gb link between the switches and goes away with 1Gb. Very clearly what the...

Re: Severe port flapping on CRS328-24P-4S+ and CRS317-1G-16S+

We had this same problem appear on one of our 317s. I am not 100% sure when it started, but it was observed on 6.43.4. The upgrade to 6.43.7 fixed it, but ONLY after I did a full factory reset and reloaded the configuration by hand (it wasn't complex). We also observed it for a brief time on several...

Re: v6.43.8 [stable] is released!

No, they are waiting to be used. We deploying five new 10Gb backbones. Two of them are multiple switch RSTP rings between the three data centers, three are just ship to shore to handle backend storage for the server cluster and other high volume data such as cameras. There are also two 1072s, two 10...

Re: v6.43.8 [stable] is released!

The reported fix to performance between 1Gb and 10Gb ports on CRS3xx series devices in 6.43.8 does not fix the issue. I've upgraded three CRS326 devices so far today, one from 6.43.4 and two from 6.43.7, and there has been no improvement. We ran extensive tests, all of which proved that while there ...

Re: What 3rd Party LTE Modems are compatible with the RBwAPR-2nD

Ok...so after endless hours messing with it, someone I know who works at AT&T said that the APN has to say "broadband". Changed it from the default of "internet" to "broadband" and it connects. Someone probably already noted this somewhere and I just didn't see it, ...

Re: What 3rd Party LTE Modems are compatible with the RBwAPR-2nD

I have the "reverse" problem. I just purchased the RBwAPR-2nD US version with the R11e-LTE-US modem. Getting past the long story of no major carrier in the US having Mikrotik's IMEI range in their systems, I was able to get one of the carriers to sell me a pre-paid plan and got a sim for t...

Re: Mass Managing Mikrotik

I am sure that others have done what I did: I have a mysql database and scripts on a server that audit/update devices. It of course uses APIs that others in the community have developed and graciously published as open source. I have 235 Mikrotik devices currently being managed, not counting spares ...
