"loading kernel from nand" - how not sleep well at night

Dear all, within a month there were three events that caused the network block of a client of mine. In the network there are 8 CRS125 and 20 RB951G which randomly stopped working. The error is "loading kernel from nand". I solved the problem using Netinstall to reinstall the operating system and the...

Re: Problem with hopping from one AP to an other

Hi 49er, I suggesto to reduce wifi aggressiveness on client side. For deeper explanation look at http://www.hometoys.com/article/2012/04/demystifying-wi-fi-roaming-what-you-need-to-know-to-avoid-costly-mistakes/1812/ . The most import aspect is that "the roam trigger is completely client dependent".

Virtual AP and HTTP authentication based on Radius user groups

Hi, I defined a virtual hotspot with http user authentication. I use Mikrotik User Manager as backend for authentication and profiling. I'm trying to define different user groups in User Manager to use inside the various server hotspot. For example: Radius: Group1: user1,user2,user3 Group2: user4,us...

ROS 6.10 - User Manager - log file has been lost

Dear all, after an upgrade from RouteriOS v. 5.20 to v.6.10 on my RB450 I noticed the following issue in the system log: Feb/27/2014 19:41:31 manager, error, info, debug mtstar.vigo.bigip.it: failed to add log: unable to open database file I tried the following commands: [admin@mtstar.vigo.bigip.it] > ...

Re: Preferred 3G USB dongle

Any reason why you want a 3G modem instead of a mPCIe? RouterOS supports the newer 3G/4G SW mPCIe module which support LTE interface. They also use less power and have better operating temperatures. I frequently use Mikrotik "integrated" solutions like RB951G, for example. This product line have no...

Hello, I'm looking for a compatible, cheap and fast 3G USB dongle to use with Mikrotik (for example with RB951G model). I already know Mikrotik supported hardware list [1] but I think is not exhaustive. What's your favorite 3G dongle? Does anyone used TP-LINK dongles [2]? Any suggestion is appreciate...

NV2 SXT AP & RB751 hotspot integration

Hi all, recently I activated (my first) three SXT-G2HnD: one as access point and two as "client" (is CPE the right definition here?) using NV2 and I'm very satisfied. I've also a running RB751G configured as hotspot. I'm not able to configure this device as NV2 client of the SXT AP. Is it possible? ...

Mikrotik as load balancer

Hi all,

is there a way to use a Mikrotik routerboard as a L4 load balancer?

I'd like to balance, for example, a couple of web server and a couple of proxy server.

Any suggestions will be appreciated!
Thank you.

Re: Bit torrent client force RB751 reboot in a while

Mikrotik Support gave to me some suggestions: 1) unistall unused RouterOS packages to free memory 2) upgrade to RouterOS >= 6.0rc6: What's new in 6.0rc6 (2012-Dec-21 12:20): *) fixed problem - netinstall for x86 did not work; *) lcd - added take-screenshot command; *) lcd - fixed calibration, fresh ...

Bit torrent client force RB751 reboot in a while

Hi all, I use a RB751U-2HnD as home hotspot (firmware version 5.22). The routerboard works fine until I use a bit torrent client on my Linux laptop. In this case the Mikrotik reboots every time after a couple of minutes. In the Mikrotik log I didn't find anything of useful to understand the issue. T...

RB751 - wireless chain0 and chain1 usage clarification

Hi all, I read the Mikrotik documentation about RB751 (http://routerboard.com/pdf/357/rb751U-2HnD-ug.pdf) and I've many doubts about the wireless section: Wireless device RB751U includes a 2GHz 802.11b/g/n wireless device built in. It has PIF type antennas (2.5dBi) built into the case, and one MMCX ...

Dear all, last night I solved all my problems. I changed the default VLAN mode for interface eth6 from "fallback" to "disabled". Sincerly I don't know why eth6 was in fallback mode. Re: RB751 bootup problem

Hi, I have an RB751U-2HnD which has a problem rebooting. RB751U-2HnD wifi not initialized after power cycle

I found an interesting and serious issue about wireless interface configuration on RB751U-2HnD. After every power cycle, the router stop the boot process due to the wifi network initialization failure (I believe): the green wifi led doesn't switch on. As side effect, the router eth1 interface is com...
