Re: MPLS issue need immediate help if you can offer any

Now I know why everyone was saying - its probably an MTU problem no matter what doesn't work in MPLS. Because it probably is :)

Take note: Don't buy Tripplite fiber media converters - they only support 1504 MTU. And x86 routers just don't play well with MPLS. Two lessons learned so far...

Thanks for those who have taken the time to help out - we appreciate it. Ok, so we have made lots of progress. MPLS issue need immediate help if you can offer any

Kinda in a bind... having an mpls issue where when we are turning up on portion of our network the bandwidth goes from 300Mb to 2Mb instantly when a router in path has mpls on. MTU sizes all set and tested with ping and DF flag across paths. Any ideas? Thanks for your time... Bit more info: ROS 6.6 ...

We are seeing the same issues with the 2011 new routers we have. All ports go into switch mode and router is not visible via winbox or IP neighbors from adjacent routers.

We are upgrading to ROS 6.2 now but has anyone been able to confirm whether this has fixed the issue or not?

I'll make an educated guess as far as the power goes with the N cards... With one chain (antenna) output at say 9db - add another chain with equal output you end up with 12db (not 19db) Anytime you double your power you get 3db more gain / output. My opinion is your ap to client density too high for quality voip services. If you have say 30 / or 15 users per ap do you still have problem? Time slicing between 60 clients has to kill your latency even if jitter is controlled by polling mechanism.

Re: VLAN Question - Tagged & Untagged - Rather Urgent Thanks

Hello Scott,

Add VLAN interface to Ethernet 5 interface:
VLAN1, VLAN2, VLAN3, VLAN4

Create bridge for each VLAN interface [4 bridges],
add to bridge ports VLAN1 and Ethernet 1
add to second bridge VLAN2 and Ethernet2, and so on.

The same configuration for second router.

I see sometimes 5-10mb throughput improvement over built in bandwidth test by running through the devices instead of between them. If you use the built-in test just assume they are real world worst-case numbers. What you get should be better through the link.

It would be very nice and powerful feature to activate firewall rules & mangle rules based on time of day and day of week. You could then very easily classify traffic different for the business/evening/weekend crowd.

This would help us a lot.

Support emailed me and said that so long as you don't have a wireless card in the rb600 then you can use the daughterboard without ptoblems. They said you can use the wireless slots on the daughterboard however. They said they are still working the problem.

RB532 w/ROS 3.3 reboots a few times a day

I've sent in a supout but have heard nothing back yet. Its a pre-v5 RB532 with daughterboard. It never did this running up to ROS 2.9.50 but since v3 upgrade it has. No other equipment I have does this, just this one. Its been running a year no problems until upgrade so it wasn't coincidence. Oh yea...

24v Power question for RB532

I know this has been discussed more than once, but I'm looking for the up-to-date answer. I have 24V at my tower site and I'll be powering the RB532 with daughterboard directly with power port, NOT poe. Which setting should the jumper be on since 24v seems to be at the transition point? Thanks Scott
