Here's a script I just wrote for backing up a .rsc and .backup file to FTP. Currently only tested on ROS 6.6. # Set local variables. Export to File - Filename Variable

I'm trying to create a script to create a n export of the config and save it with a filename with the date and time in it. I can't get it to work if the filename has the variable $filename in it. If I make it say file=test235 it creates the file with the name test235 just fine. Any suggestions? I've...

Yeah that's what I want. I don't know why they have to make it so confusing and difficult. Every other switch is damn easy to get going.

I tried your settings to no avail. Maybe the trunk port (1) is misconfigured?

See the attached photos for what I have setup.

Port 1 is the trunk port and 2-5 are members of the various VLANs. Native VLAN is 10. SFP port is not used. The other end of the trunk is setup correctly, I tested it by replacing the RB with a Cisco 3560.

RB260GS VLANs

How do I configure access ports and trunk ports? I have setup VLANs 100's of times across Vyatta, Cisco, HP, 3COM, etc but can't get them to work on the damn 260GS. The Wiki is useless on what to do. Does anyone have a screenshot or a "terminology comparison" to say Cisco? Thanks.

I know this is an old topic, but I figured I would update it in case anyone else was looking for the info. Re: Use RouterOS as DNS server

I got my issue resolved. It was a firewall rule. I've never had to change it before for whatever reason. I had to create a filter rule to allow input traffic on the WAN port and set the connection type to establish. The router could send out a DNS request, but it wasn't coming back through the firew...

Re: Use RouterOS as DNS server

I'm having the same issues with 6rc6 on a RB450G and a RB750. I can't get DNS redirecting to work. It worked fine on 5.20 but now isn't working. It's setup the same and even the same as this thread, but the clients won't resolve. Perhaps it's a bug in RC6?

Excluding one IP from PCQ Queues

Hi, I have successfully set up PCQ queues to limit bandwidth and they work great. The only issue is that I have a single computer on the network that I want excluded from the bandwidth limiting. Is there a way to do this? If so, how?

Thanks.

I resolved this here this morning. I added a rule to the filter to allow TCP port 80 from the 192.168.1.0/24 subnet to 192.168.2.1 and it seems to be working fine.

Feature Suggestion: IPSEC fixes

Please let us use DNS names in the addresses instead of doing scripts to resolve the IPs. It would make a lot easier.

Also, please allow use to use the WAN IP on the mikrotik without having to use scripts to get it, take out the mask, and then insert it into the peer and policies.

Re: Help setting up PPTP server and port forwarding.

You have a DHCP client running on your WAN interface. How does the modem know to forward all traffic to you? The NAT rule for TCP/1723 makes no sense. You are NAT'ing traffic already destined to you (if the modem is forwarding it correctly, that is) to yourself. Other than those two items things lo...
