gringoZ is probably right. Low throughput is often the result of high latency. Lowering the latency of the link or increasing the TCP window size on the endpoints will probably fix your problems. SNMP and ethernet negotiation speed/duplex

Hello, I did some search on forum, but I didn't find any solution. I have some RB on FM tower. Sometimes the ethernet go to 10Mbps half duplex or the auto-negotiation fails. There is a way to get the ether1 current negotiated speed (eg. 10 or 100 Mbps) and the duplex status (half or full) from SNMP?...

Re: PPPoE on central router OR on each tower

You could use a central based NAS and run MLPS on top of the OSPF network and tunnel the traffic back to the central NAS ... I've seen a few posts of people doing this, I'm not sure what the impacts from added overhead are... but it's one way to have your cake and eat it too. Also look into /32 rou...

Re: PPPoE on central router OR on each tower

Currently we have centrally located NAS/PPPoE servers (we have multiple) and it works well. I'm looking at pushing them further out into the network and using OSPF for the core/distribution layer of the network and using PPPoE to handle the access layer. That way it's just layer 2 from the AP to th...

PPPoE on central router OR on each tower

Hello, do you have the PPPoE server (NAS) at a central router in your NOC, or a small one to each tower? What are the pros and cos? I think that is better to a central place, so you have 1 point for authenticate the user and do traffic logging. The CONS are: 1) you have to encapsulate the traffic fr...

Re: MTU, MSS, MRU in MPLS+VPLS+PPPoE

can you help me? :)
please ask if more detail are needed.

My goal is to understand how many bytes are required for VPLS and ethernet interfaces to transport PPPoE without fragmentation.
I tought 1522 L2MTU and 1500MTU, but it seems breaks the PPPoE.

Thanks!

fragmentation

Hi, this is a question for who has experience in RouterOS+MPLS :D if I have a VPLS tunnel and I do a ping through the tunnel (using the Dont Fragment flag): ping x.x.x.x -l 1472 -f where x.x.x.x is an IP on the other end of the tunnel (I use 1472 because 20 bytes is for TCP + 8 bytes for ICMP = 28 b...

Hi,

what is the real TCP throughput of your wireless link using Routerboards, and how much distance?
Can you reach 100Mbp/s real ethernet throughput using MIMO 2x2 N cards?

Re: 5GHz link over the sea

It's is not good to talk about using diversity now while you don't have any calculation of the link or not try the link till now. I recommend you to use some link planner. I attached two files about my project. one before using diversity and the other after that. You can use Motorola Link planner t...

Re: 5GHz link over the sea

ok, so about the multipathing of the signal, I know the the motorola, but it is over the budget of that link. Do you know, or are you experieced, with a less expensive diversity antenna? You can try 40 MHz but whenever get in to trouble try 20 MHz and 15 MHz too. The solution for decrease multipath ...

5GHz link over the sea

Hi, I'm planning a new link, that PtP 25Km total, but ~4.5 or 4.9 Km of the link are over water (sea). I will use mimo parabolic (30 or 34 dBi gain) antennas and RB411AH device on both side at 5GHz, 40Mhz channel. There will be a temperature difference between 10°C and 35-40°C from winter to summer....

Hi, I'm setting up a network.
