ROS6 ethernet interfaces and traffic stopping

Hello Guys, I have been struggling with ROS6 on an x86 box plugged into Cisco switches. I have tried 4 different Intel NICs as well as generic DLinks. I am using this as a transparent bandwidth shaper. Motherboard is an Intel with a core i5. Every so often traffic will just stop passing traffic and ...

ROS6 RC11 stops passing traffic

Hello all, I have an x86 machine setup as a bandwidth shaper/firewall. The machine has 2 Intel 10/100/1000 NICs. The ports are bridged along with some VLANs. We then use Simple Queues with bursting for traffic management. We also use firewall rules with access lists to allow active customers through...

Re: ROS v5.20 won't boot from SSD

In order to install RouterOS onto my SSD drive the only way I could get it to work was use an IDE CDROM drive with a Universal Drive Adapter (IDE to USB). This is the only way I could get the system to recognize both the CDROM and SSD Drive at the same time.

Small business router setup with hotspot

Hello, I want to setup an RB750 or RB450 for use as a small business router using masquerade or NAT for the corporate LAN and use 1 port for a separate hotspot network. I use RB450s and RB750s for small business routers and wifi hotspot controllers, but have never setup both functions on the same ro...

Re: Best Cpu for RouterOS x86.

What error message do you see when trying to install/boot? Try different SATA port modes in the BIOS. I have tried 2 SATA settings in the BIOS both IDE and AHCI. The only other option is RAID. When I am trying to boot from a Netinstall SATA drive or SATA SSD drive "No bootable device - insert ...

Re: Best Cpu for RouterOS x86.

A quad core i5/i7 will give you the best performance, then it goes core i3, core 2 duo, dual core, atom. What kind of bandwidth do you need to handle? What kind of configuration/firewalling are you doing? How much IPsec traffic? Our experience is an Intel E4600 Core 2 Duo running in 2 core mode (en...

RouterOS not booting on intel DP55WG

Hello all, I have a new Intel DP55WG motherboard that I am trying to install RouterOS on. I can not get 4.16 or newest 5 beta to boot. I have used Netinstall in Windows to install the OS onto both a SATA hard drive and a SATA SSD drive. Neither will boot. As a test I was able to use a small 2 gig US...
