Re: CCR Redundant Power Supply

n21roadie - Presumably I could get away with slightly smaller blocking diodes if matched with a suitably small fuse. I.e +-10A 60V blocking diode with a standard 12/24V automotive in-line fuse holder at 5A. Yes just one device for now - have toyed around with having a single high Amperage supply for...

Re: CCR Redundant Power Supply

Great advice - Thank you I will add them in.

Can you advice a part number for the 600V diodes if you have used similar before?

Presumably there will be a small voltage drop over the diode too?

Re: CCR Redundant Power Supply

Hi n21roadie. I *think* it appears safe. They are rated for 10A under normal usage (or 6A de-rated if not actively cooled) and shouldn't have more than about 1A-2A during idle going to around 3A at 100% utilisation (at least on the 16 core CCR I'm using). This is based on the CCR idling at around 25...

Re: CCR Redundant Power Supply

Anyone got any ideas?

Thinking this would be the only safe option now :- http://www.mini-box.com/Y-PWR-Hot-Swap- ... Controller

There is enough room for it in the case and it fully blocks each channel.

Re: Migrating from RB1200 to CCR1016-12G

I've had lots of issues like that moving between Mikrotik models before. IMHO the best and safest thing to do is to import the config manually. I.e export the various sections and import them one by one correcting any issues that will arise as a result of different interface numbers etc. Very time c...

Re: CCR Redundant Power Supply

Just done some more tests. With the 24V internal supply the other connector floats at around 3V. If the 19.5V secondary PSU is connected, both terminals measure their correct voltage. If you then disconnect power to the internal PSU and measure the voltage on the PSU connector - it reads 19.5V. I.e....

CCR Redundant Power Supply

Hi, Recently added a secondary Power supply to the CCR (Confirmed with Mikrotik staff first it was safe in another thread) on its secondary internal power connector port. My secondary PSU is a 19.5V 5A power supply. I have tested the voltage with a multimeter both with and without load and confirmed...

Re: Mikrotik CCR Internal Power Connector Type

Ok after more searches. The connector looks to be a generic 3.96mm pitch 3-way housing. I *think* its a molex 09-50-3031. Could also be perhaps :- http://uk.farnell.com/molex/09-93-0300/housing-3-96mm-3way/dp/2060677 or http://uk.farnell.com/molex/09-93-0300/housing-3-96mm-3way/dp/2060677 I think th...

Re: Mikrotik CCR Internal Power Connector Type

Hi Normis,

Thanks - I'm after buying a connector - so wondered if you had a model code for it?

If its proprietary to Mikrotik fine - but if its available at a supplier it would be good to know what it was.

Hi Normis.

Thanks for the reply.

Proprietry to Mikrotik? As in its not possible for me to buy at all ?

If not I'll have to make a workaround.

Mikrotik CCR Internal Power Connector Type

I'm trying to add an external PSU to compliment the internal PSU in the CCR (CCR1016-12G) and make it redundant so I need to make an extra wiring loom to the secondary PSU connector. See image here :- http://forum.mikrotik.com/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=69422 Can anyone advise the name of the connector...

Re: RB1100 - Overclocking results

"voltage is between 2.5 and 2.6" - rated input is 12-24VDC.

Rest of it sounds normal. Id probably just try with the 512Mb that came with it overclocked to 533/1066 as its very likely to be the memory you added and not CPU/System instability IMHO.

Re: RB1100 - Overclocking results

sariao: Was it definately during normal usage and not on reboot?

If you have changed the memory & frequency and the routerboard doesn't "like" it - then on reboot it will hang. You have to pull the power to get it back up.

Re: RB1100 - Overclocking results

hedele: we have the same dilema re. replacement hardware should an RB1000U die. I wish the RB1100 had been a more powerful RB1000 CPU wise.

Hopefully they will address the gap in their product line up soon.

Re: RB1100 - Overclocking results

Sariao. I had the same problem - you just have to play around with it. I suspect the best way to do it is via serial port/bootloader as like you the 1333mhz option doesnt appear in winbox/CLI for me. Change your ram frequency to 533mhz first then reboot and you should see different cpu frequency opt...

Re: RB1100 performance when shaping 1Gpbs

Can't answer your question re throughput - as not pushing that much traffic through. We have an RB1000 shaping 100Mbits or so of webserver type traffic (and providing firewall). Uses around 10-15% CPU. I think this could be reduced quite a bit with rule optimisation etc. If power usage is an issue I...

Re: RB1100 /ip route print speed - possible bug?

Thanks for the rapid reply. The ability to query the routing table without knowing the prefix length is pretty much an essential feature for a core router as it makes debugging impossible to do as you would rarely know the prefix length of the advertised route. This query at least (in dst-address) s...

Re: RB1100 - Overclocking results

I've just installed an RB1100 set to 1066Mhz CPU/533Mhz Ram in our DC. today. Boot 2.29. ROS 4.16. Rack in DC isn't particularly well cooled - cpu is at 51C - rises to 59C when taxed to 100% cpu for 5 minutes. Is running maybe 10C hotter then ambient in our office here. I have no stability issues in...

RB1100 /ip route print speed - possible bug?

I'm trying to identify if the following behaviour is a bug or is normal... RB1100 Router with max RAM (2GB - 1.5GB supported in ROS). Bootloader = 2.29. ROS = 4.16. Router is idle on 0% cpu - routing <1Mbit/s traffic - I have installed it as a "proof of concept" to see if we could move som...

The hynix memory I got works fine at all frequencies (no hang on reboot) with 4.16 and bootloader 2.29 -

Hynix PC2-5300-1288 256Mx64 200 So Dimm 2gb DDR2 667Mhz CL5

Format of microSD works with that module - although network connectivity (via winbox) gets dropped while it takes place...

Re: RB1100 RAM Compatibility

Just to correct my last post - that ram will only run at 400Mhz, so 400Mhz/800Mhz CPU fine - 400Mhz/1000MhzCPU fine etc etc. 533mhz results in a hang on reboot. This is with either v4 or v5 software and 2.28 or 2.29 bootloaders. I'm going to try and get some hynix 2GB modules to test. I've sent the ...

Re: RB1100 RAM Compatibility

Crucial 2GB 200-Pin DDR2 CT25664AC667.M16FJ1 - works fine on reboot at stock frequencies. If DDR frequency is raised to 533 regardless as to change of CPU frequency it hangs on reboot. You can use the 400DDR/1000CPU frequency though.
