OSPF w/BFD for redundant distributed LAN - Thoughts?

Looking for best practice to provide redundant Ethernet connectivity between 20 facilities. The network transport will include wireless, fiber and Ethernet. Wireless will service the majority, and I've added extra home runs to reduce the latency of rings that would otherwise leave some nodes five or...

Re: Dude v4beta3 released

Agreed. I like The Dude because I've been using MikroTik RouterOS since before RouterBoard made any products. Since v2. I went to the 2 day MUM precursor in Vegas, was that 2003? RouterBoard was making 4 port Ethernet cards and RouterOS on an IDE flash drive. Along with others here, I'd be pleased t...

Re: RB750 CPU Usage Problems

We've experienced this issue with several RB750's. Processor at 100%, Winbox unable to display information in Interface and Queue fields among others. Profile indicates Flash is consuming all resources. CPU typically at less than 20% until the bug surfaces. Seems like a simple fix once the cause is ...

Re: 711 Reliability?

seems like some poorly grounded connections. I knew someone would say that. Let's review, zero failures out of hundreds of Canopy, Ubiquiti and Tranzeo radios and all but one 711 and one 711A have failed, on the same night, due to an electrical storm. Every 711 or SXT is coupled to a Ubiquiti AP on...

Re: 711 Reliability?

I'm seeing a near 100% failure rate on both the 711 and the SXT. The last time I saw this was with early Tranzeo TR-CPE's in 2003-4. Jim replaced al the radios and disclosed that the issues was with the Ethernet chip. Symptom: Some have no Ethernet connection and you can communicate with others if y...

Re: Help with Microtik traffic shaper

PCQ is a great way to balance traffic between all users. If you're using Simple Queues to set data rates and track traffic volume, you can use this script: Just replace the numbers with the ones you want. Edit in notepad. Cut and paste into "New Terminal" from Winbox. If you decide you don...

Re: modify queue will reset queue statistics and lose packet

If I understand the behavior you describe correctly, you are reducing the limit and then you see momentary packet loss. The only way to throttle TCP/IP is to drop packets. When you restrict the data rate packets from the source will be dropped at the router until incoming packets are within the queu...
