Re: RB-1100 Port problems, and performance problems

Found that if i disable all mangle rules for ether1 and also disable queues that use the mangle rules then router will not reboot or lock up randomly. Router has been up and going for 2 days since disabled but now i cant filter or manage traffic with my queue tree/mangle rules. Any ideas?

HOTSPOT and wii wont connect

I have a hotspot service at a apartment complex. Signal levels are good but when wii is told to connect it will not redirect to login page. Is there a way to allow the wii to connect without auth? or say be allowed to connect based on mac address and still have other customers login as normal?

Re: How many users per Mbps - sharing bandwidth

I’ve been managing a small wisp for all most a year. We took the wisp from a company that was going to pull the plug because they were losing customers and weren’t making money anymore. I was told this company at one time peaked at 350 customers and then tanked. When we took it over we were also tol...

Re: my dude client keeps crashing

This has happened to me before but i wasn't able to find out why. I ended up removing the device i added and renamed it after i added it back. Since then it hasn't crashed. Wasn't sure if name was long or some characters cant be used. Does this sound like it could be the issue?

Re: QOS / bandwith help

You can setup layer7 then mangle rules then queues for each type of traffic you want to limit. I think simple queues get processed first so you can add simple queue for your pc and 1 for mail server to allow what ever bandwidth you want. ex: /ip firewall layer7-protocol add comment="" name=edonkey r...

Re: Solving 20km wireless link issues

Go higher!!! metal buildings are mirrors for wireless. I dont know if you have any water ( as in lakes ) but they can have the same effect. The best thing is higher or move away from the metal building.

Re: No more bandwidth or 2.4ghz, how do I compete?

I took over a failing WISP last year. It was all motorola canopy. The issue was the config of the network and lack of knowledge. Be sure to read up on canopy!!!!!!! At this time i use a combo of MT, canopy and trango equipment. Main links are MT 5.7 with secondary main links canopy on 5.7 and custom...

Re: Wireless amplifier

One of the most important this to note: Amplifiers amplify EVERYTHING, including the noise. Thank you!!! i have had to fix multiple ap's because someone that it was better to have a AMP on it. On the 2.4 range you are not only amping your signal but everything else as well. Sooner or later its goin...

Re: Long Range Wireless w/ hills and trees

I did a link at 34 miles once with 4 foot dish's. It was very difficult to aim the dish's because they were so far apart you cant see what you are aiming at and that's not counting that they were mounted 250FT above ground on both sides. I had to climb each tower twice by my self with a hand held in...

Re: Maximum throughput of a wireless bridge?

i have MT link with rb 433ah at 2 miles running 108Mbps 5Ghz with Nstream on horz. Link does about 35 down and 35 up. Also my Antenna is a dual polarity so there is a extra wireless card on both ends so later i can bump it up more. I would try and enable Nstream. It may double the speed you are gett...
