Re: Mikrotik VDSL / DSL Modem?

One more question - do I need to have a pair of 180-R + 180-C to run Ethernet over 2-wire? Or I can install 180-R in RB2011 which will then act as a sort of DSLAM and connect any cheap VDSL(ADSL?) modem to it?

Holy Jeez! 132's are still 100 EUR each and they need a PC router to run :)

Re: Mikrotik VDSL / DSL Modem?

Agh nevermind :) 2 pairs are perfectly OK for 100 Mbps, most of my home is already wired using 2 pairs and it is working like a charm. Technically, there are other options besides those SFP VDSLs - I have seen some Solwise Ethernet-to-phoneline bridges on eBay at 60 EUR each but it's still way too m...

Re: Mikrotik VDSL / DSL Modem?

Hello all, I have a UTP3 wire running down my home in the drywall and only 1 pair is available. How can I connect couple of Mikrotiks over that pair? I see somebody suggested a Mikrotik router with SFP cage and pair of VDSL modems in SFP form-factor. But they are damn expensive - around $200 or some...

Re: Mikrotik Boards supports 802.11n????

You have to wait a while until RouterOS starts supporting 802.11n
Do not try to fool Mighty Kalviz, you Normis the Mortal! :-)))))
RouterOS supports 802.11n, at least some particular interfaces.

Unification of holes in all RB series

Hello Mikrotik, It would be great if you unify the location of holes on the PCB for 532, 112 and 133. It will allow to change routerboards inside RIC series integrated antenna. Just assume that user wants to replace RB 112 with 532 and vice versa. Actually, it is not possible since the holes do not ...

If you want to know how to get big Mbps with outdoor MT router, just summon a guy named Stephen Patrick, he really does know HOW to tweak motherboards for MT outdoor wireless ;-)

However, most likely he will sooner or later appear in this thread ;-)

Valens,

You can use "connect-list" parameter in wireless menu (works just like access-list but in the opposite direction), so you can restrict CPE from connecting to any AP except the one with MAC address you specify in the connect-list

No, we have not tested them in RB112 and 532 since all our 112/532 are up and running on towers ;-) The only hardware we have at the moment are 153's. When I get my hands on RB112 I will test it definitely. However, 112 is not a good option for a router with multiple cards, I would prefer to run mul...

Which power adapter do you use? My opinion is - the cards run short on power (this explains a bit better stability with 48 V power unit). Could you test them on RB532?

I installed them in PCs before that and they ran just fine, also the interference seemed to be smaller that with CM9. The vendor of the cards says there is a lot of complains about RB153. Is RB532 stabler than RB153?

CM10 and RB153

Did anyone experience problems with multiple CM10 in RB153? When we put 3 CM10 in one RB153, the routerboard hangs up in ~1..2 minutes if using 18W adapter and in 4..5 if using 48W. However, 3 CM9s in RB153 run smooth. For example, when 3 CM10 reside in RB153+18V power, we are able to run scan only ...

RB 532, 153, 112, 511

What is the typical power consumption in W for each type of routerboards with as much CM9 cards inside as it can house (i.e 3 cards in 153, 2 cards in 112, 4 cards in 532)? http://www.routerboard.com does not have such info :(

Bonding 2 wireless links (like transparent Nstreme-dual) is not a good idea. The bonding mechanism works with certain coefficient of productivity, and this coefficient is far from 100%. Assume you have 2 CM9 cards in each router, one pair is working for upload, other for download. Assume that each l...

multicast support in polling

The polling feature should be improved so it can support multicast. At the moment, the polling mechanism consequently runs on the list of client MACs and sends unicast frames in turn to each list entry (or an empty frame to a client that is passive). Suggestion: just before sending unicast frames, s...

As I said earlier: The positive 100's appear due to the binaric nature of a byte. Usually, 8-bit sequence declared as type:byte allows numbers from 0 to 255. 8-bit type:small_integer stands for -127..127 and the very first bit of the byte is a sign-bit. If you decrease the negative number by 1 conse...

There is electricity in the air so non-DC grounded or improperly DC grounded omni antenna...

Sten, do you think if 3 interfaces are bridged, the incoming frame (coming through interface A and destined for a host reachable via interface B) is also retranslated to interface C? Mikrotik manual says that the bridge interface is working as switch, not like a hub.

We had the same issue 3 times. Excellent signal, low noise, worked some days or even weeks with no problem, and then "no connectivity". I put "" in the text since there still was a possibility to get connected at some 20 meters away from the AP. At 1 km (remote client's location)...
