Re: ROS 7.1 BGP max-prefix-limit missing

You should shutdown the session and have it disabled permanently or for a long time, not just close and restart immediately.
Exactly. It's better to shut it down and require manual intervention to reactivate it than not having the feature.

Re: ROS 7.1 BGP max-prefix-limit missing

Flapping connections simply add unnecessary load to the router.

It can be solved with a long timeout after hitting a max-prefix limit. Even 12 hours could do. But it's dangerous to not have it. Full-view leaks are more common that what everyone could think.

The time needed to download the routing table is quite fast already. The huge problem is that it takes 20 minutes or so to install the routes (and make them active). It seems that the process that executes this task is always only one.

Fake IPv6 recursive nexthops

I created this script as a really ugly patch that allows my customers to announce their ipv6 routes via BGP and let it work until the real IPv6 nexthops will be correctly resolved. It uses BGP MED (1 to 254) to choose the preferred path in case of multiple links/routes. I know it's extremely ugly, b...

I am using one RB1100AH to terminate around 400 SSTP tunnels from various other mikrotik devices for management purposes (CLI access). With ROS 6.20 the average load was ~15%. With ROS 6.26 is constantly over 60% and there are several mikrotik clients that can't connect anymore.

Disconnecting a client with a bad signal is not always the best solution: if the client moves closer to another AP then it may reconnect to the nearest one, but if the client moves far away from all APs, then he gets no service. My two cents: Maybe it could be made reliably with dedicated hardware: ...

Hm, sorry but can't repeat it yet. On what ROS version are you trying it? This behaviour appeared only in 6.0rc7 (tested on RB951-2n and RB1200), and it's still like this in 6.0rc8 (build-time: Feb/04/2013 13:25:4) found on demo.mt.lv. it's as it was designed. you set this value as a number in kibibytes, you shouldn't add 'KiB' 'k', 'M', etc. are standard Terminal suffixes, they just add necessary number of zeroes (like in Queues, you set max-limit in bits per second as '1000000', '1000k' or '1M', but not '1000kbps' - that's wron...

this dampening is protecting your infrastructure not the others from your BGP announces ?
If your customers flap (which is something quite common, expecially when they change configurations), with dampening active, you avoid to propagate flaps to the peers.

Probably this has already been requested but I can't find the thread.
I think I am not the only one needing BGP flap dampening. It's required by almost any internet exchanges. Expecially now that we have CCR, I think it would be really useful. Is there any hope to find it in ROS 6.x ?
