Re: User Manager / Wireless Users

Thanks for the quick reply. My question on weather or not I need a separate RB (i.e RB750) from my AP (RB411AR) stems from my not understanding the following extracts from http://wiki.mikrotik.com/wiki/User_Manager/Wireless_Example "Note, first local router database is consulted, then User Manager d...

User Manager Questions

Can User Manager be used without Hotspot? Do I need a dedicated Radius Server in order to use User Manager? I just want to be able to see who's online, how long they've been online, total usage, and as a real bonus be able to send usage reports via email to users. Currently I'm using IPCOP with traf...

Re: RB411AR as access point

Ticked the Ping ARP Box and now can ping my laptop. Should one always have to enable / tick this to be able to ping? Can also now connect to the internet via RB via Firewall. Ping MS's are at about 300 which seems a bit delayed... Set wan1 to G only and i think that sorted out the 11mbps. (its now 5...

Is increased range determined by wifi card or antenna?

I plan to install RouterOS on an old PC (400mhz cpu, 128MB RAM, 2 x USB, 5x LAN) Reason being that if I were to purchase a RouterBoard with all the above Id pay a lot...
