Re: Slow routing with a CCR1009

If the link is 1000/11 then I can assume that the ack send back in TCP connections will congest your link. Also remove all the queues and see if you still have any issues.

Re: CloudCore Router Dual WAN + VLANS & Static range

Out of my head I think I would do this, add all subnets into a adresslist called internal_lan, then also add each subnet with wan1 and wan2 into lists. Then in mangle I would add a mangle list for each vlan/subnet with source list as wan1/wan2 and destination !internal_lan. That should lead to mangl...

I used adress list to solve it, thus traffic not intended for an adresslist is marked as WAN1/2 traffic. Basically I only have static adresses in dhcp servers and add a address mark in the lease

You should only route mark traffic thats intended for WAN1/2. All other traffic should be unmarked since you want it to use the "default" routing table.

It makes me sad that there are so many issues in RouterOS. We decided to get a CCR to replace our main Cisco router. At the moment, there is no way we can put the CCR in to production. You will not have leaks if you have add the access to NAT interface only to the clients in the list, dont forget to add your routers ip to the WAN nat too. Its important that you also have this for WAN nat.

I have a setup where I have VPN where some internal IP's are routed through and the rest use normal WAN. What I do is I setup address lists for WAN and for VPN and when natting I only let the address list ip's go through each nat rule. Works great.

You should be at about -60 for signal strength, too high is just as bad as too low. I'm puzzled that you tried both chains with only one antenna, that would kill one chain at a time when you change, so chances are really high that you killed the card.

Re: How to choose RouterBoard?

You need to be more specific on what services you will run before anyone can give you a better indication on what you need. Will you use simple queues,, queue trees, FW, bridge, meta router, PPPoE and so on? Whats the expected WAN connection speed per user and in totat?

Re: Limit CPU usage

upload the main file routeros-mipsbe-5.11.npk, reboot. After reboot upgrade the firmware. If your using usermanager, hotspot or net time, then you need to upload them from the larger zip file too. I ususally do that after fw update.

Re: Limit CPU usage

What config do you have? If you have bridge also then check so that your not sending the bridge traffic through the FW unless you need to. I would guess that with wifi, bridge, bridge FW, FW you would max out at around 40mbit on that hardware. The 750G has really limited CPU power

Re: router recommendation

Kind of depends on what you expect to do with it, will you be using the FW? What connection do you have? The low end is the RB751U-2HnD thats a complete solution for you. On the other end, if your a techie and want hi-performance then and dont mind to spend a bit you can go with a RB800, a wifi card...

Re: 802.11n Slow

MB/s is megabyte per second, I think that 7.xMB/s, about 60-65mbit/s is way too low for one stream, and thats about 1/3 of consumer equipment on the market. I too use the RB800@1066 and a 52nm dual chain card. I think that I can not get more by tweeking settings/cards/antennas than this, I think ro...

Re: 802.11n Slow

Mikrotik is now moving into the office space and home space with its line of routers with built-in wifi. To be 1/3 of the speed of the cheepest routers will be a key issue to solve if they wish to stay in that product area. Now that NV2 is fast, have a look at AP client speed with windows, macs, sma...

Re: I need to reach a NAS in another room at maximum speed

There is gigabit versions of powerline adapters, you should be able to get at close to 500mbit pure throughput even with old/bad power cables from that setup. Messing with wireless will do you no good at all.

RB816 gigabit version

I have a RB800 at home ( i know a bit of overkill) and would like to add the RB816 addon board to my setup, but I really need gigabit and not 100mbit. Is there any plan to bring the addon board up to speed?

The latest firmware for the RB800, is that 2.30? I get that both in 5.7 and 5.8, but I can see that there are newer firmwares released after that. When a firmware is released, is it generic or device specific?

We have been testing a variety of MIMO configurations and are seeing very consistent and disappointing results. We started with a pair of RB433UAH with RB52Hn cards. I've been trying to figure out why I have a slow wifi network, I've been getting about 60 mbit. I've tried filecopy from a gigabit connected machine to with routeros(RB800@1066, 52n) wifi, netgear 3700 wifi and gigabit connection. I get great linkspeed, 300 on both but really different speeds.
