I found this flaw in Mikrotik devices too. It seems to be true of all of their switching chips and I think I also saw it in their software bridging. I came up with a different solution. /interface ethernet switch rule add dst-mac-address=01:80:C2:00:00:0E/FF:FF:FF:FF:FF:FF \ redirect-to-cpu=yes swit...

Re: some quick comments on configuring cake

Hi Dave (dtaht), > A modern version of cake has support for the new diffserv LE codepoint. I'd dearly like support for that in mikrotik given how problematic CS1 proved to be, and it's a teeny patch +1! Would be great if you could submit a request at https://help.mikrotik.com so it is formalized. T...

I'm getting a similar result with v7.6rc3 on a RB4011iGS+. In my case there is only 1 OSPF neighbor and it's a RB750 running v6.49.7. Like the OP, there is no sign of this oddity showing in the neighbor. When using real global IPs on the local interfaces the internet works just fine, but the odd ext...

Dave, Thank you for the work in making CAKE even exist. It will finally give me a DSCP aware queuing discipline on Mikrotik. Now I just need them to use a modern implementation of CAKE where the Least Effort DSCP mark is LE(000001) instead of CS1(001000). And if they could please add Queue Type sele...

My OSPF v2 experience with upgrading from v7.1beta5 to v7.1beta6. First off, the interface-templates lost all references to Interface or Network. So as @mducharme suggested, if you are using OSPF, export your OSPF config to file. Remove your OSPF config. Upgrade to v7.1beta6. Import your OSPF config...

I just checked the CAKE in ROS v7.1beta5. It still believes that the DSCP codepoint for Least-Effort traffic is CS1(0x8). According to https://tools.ietf.org/html/rfc8622 , the IANA has created a specific DSCP codepoint for Least-Effort traffic, LE(0x1). From what I can tell in the CAKE mailing grou...

Re: Do any queue types respect Priority markings?

Another (perhaps simpler) way around this - if you use sfq as the default queue type for your PPPoE customers, it might try to somewhat equitably prioritize MSDO vs other traffic. This can help prevent MSDO from using all of the customer bandwidth without having to set up complicated child queues. ...

Well, you know that to have priority work it needs a reference, meaning queue1 has higher priority to queue2. That's why the queues need to be related as in queue tree. When they re not related, it is not possible to apply priority. In case of pppoe users, do not set limits on the profile of users,...
