managing CPU performance on CCR1072

Hi, I've recently commissioned a CCR1072 and am looking for ways to avoid core/CPU bottlenecks. Currently, one CPU tends to max out, and when profiled, its a roughly 50/50 split for Network/Firewall. I've stripped back my config to try to work out where the bottlenecking is occurring. Current setup:...

Re: CHR features from tool packages

* Time service. This way there is no need to set up any SNTP and the router is always in sync with the hosts. Off topic, just wanted to make a quick comment on this one: most hypervisors are pretty tough on the internal clock. We've found our Hyper-V servers (and ESX before them) tended to drift ar...

Re: v6.30.2 bugfix release

This might be something I've come across recently which is more an Android 5.x thing. The device will try to load http://clients3.google.com/generate_204, and if it can't, figures its in a walled garden and decides it won't connect to the wifi automatically... https://www.chromium.org/chromium-os/ch...

Re: bricked RB Metal 5SHPn's

This is not likely the cause, just a coincidence. You don't have to ever upload FWF files to upgrade RouterBOOT, because the latest FWF file is automatically included in the RouterBOARD.npk package that you use. Ahh, thank you for clarifying this for me. I was wondering why I've never had to specif...

bricked RB Metal 5SHPn's

Hi, I managed to brick a couple of my new RBMetal5SHPn units today, and need help resurrecting them. Out of the box, they've got v5.26 on them, so I attempted to bring them up to 6.29.1. I copied the packages (from all_packages_mipsbe-6.29.1.zip) over to it, and did "system routerboard upgrade&...

Wishlist Item: SFP Switches

Hi,

Are there any plans to put out switches that are all SFP cages? I've got a couple of CCR1016-12S-1S+ that I'm using as distribution switches and they're perfect for me, although something with more port density (eg 24 x 1GB, 2 x 10GB) with switch chips would be even better.

Cheers,
Brett

Re: FTC fiber to copper converter

Are there any plans for variations of the FTC? As there's no DC power jack, it has to be POE-IN, which means the injector would have to be out at the other end of the copper link. I've got a lot of situations where I have power & fibre in one area, but would like to power a nearby AP via POE.. a...

[SOLVED]Re: issues with 5.14

Great call. Initially I was going to say "but I first noticed the problem connecting over IP", but that could've very easily been a routing cockup on my part. Connecting via IP seems to be the solution. Haven't had a single pause or lockup so far. Am wondering if its something changed in t...

issues with 5.14 (maybe)

I'm deploying some RB433AHs as wireless access points around one of our sites, and am noticing some strange behaviour in WinBox when configuring them up. In windows like IP --> Firewall rules take a long time to render. If you open other windows in Winbox it seems to "tickle" a few more ru...

Fibre solutions

Hi all, I'd like to start putting access points around our site, and also use up some dormant multimode fibre capacity we have. Can anyone recommend a 12 or 24 port fibre switch (either with pluggable SFPs or not), and a decent fibre/copper converter for hosting my routerboards? Am looking at puttin...
