Re: Winbox 3

All display settings are lost between closing Winbox 3, and starting a new Winbox 3 session to the same device, regardless of the setting of "Load previous session".

Re: v6.16/v6.17

A positive report:

With this version, the rate of Rx Errors/Drops on an encrypted PPTP link is substantially reduced.
Previously, the error rate could exceed 10% of packets. Now it is less than 0.5%.

Thank you!

Re: IP cloud useless behind NAT

If you login to your NAT router then surely you can forward the winbox port to your internal device? You miss the point completely. It is the NAT router that has a public IP address that is dynamically allocated by the ISP, so I am seeking a solution for locating the public IP address of the NAT ro...

IP cloud useless behind NAT

If the Mikrotik box is behind a NAT router, then the /ip cloud service is useless, because it registers the LAN IP address of the Mikrotik, instead of the true external IP address. Please can the /ip cloud feature can be enhanced with an option to register the true external IP address, as sensed by ...

Re: v6.13 released!

on the L2TP-Server side the packets are not bridged anymore. Downgrade to 6.12 fixed it.
Yes, I see the same server-side BCP failure over PPTP. Client-side BCP OK on 6.13, but server-side BCP did not work at 6.13 and required to be down-graded to 6.12.

Re: What's new in 6.8rc1

You Need to have "Development version testing" Access on main mikrotik.com page.
How do I obtain this?

What's new in 6.8rc1 (2014-Jan-02 09:46):

*) improved speed of PPP, PPPoE, PPTP & L2TP on multicore routers
Will this update include a fix for Ticket#2011122766000641, concerning packet loss if PPP packets arrive out of order?

Re: RouterOS v6rc11

RB450G at both ends of a BCP-over-PPTP link. The Server end of the PPTP link is on 5.23. Client end of link was updated from 6.0rc9 to 6.0rc11. After this update, the BCP bridge would not work: at the SERVER end, the BCP bridge port status was stuck on Forwarding:No, with Learning:No flashing to Lea...

TCP SYN-ACK MSS wrong?

RB450G, RouterOS 5.11 For good reason, I have assigned an MTU of 1432 to an interface in the RouterBoard, instead of the default 1500 (the interface is on an internal bridge). I can verify that this setting has been acted upon, because that interface now sends TCP packets with a maximum size of 1392...

BCP bridging, long frames, packets out of order

I am running a BCP bridge over either L2TP or PPTP (both exhibit the same problems). I have MRRU set to 1600 as recommended. The BCP bridge runs fine for ethernet frames up to 1432 bytes, with less than 3% packet drop. For frames of 1434 bytes or more, packet loss is about 50%. In the WinBox PPP scr...

Re: How make Route to Nexthop of DHCP-allocated interface?

No, I've disabled the default route associated with the DHCP allocation. I want a staticly-defined route that just sends traffic to one known remote IP address via the DHCP-allocated interface's gateway router. There is no other router involved under my control.

How make Route to Nexthop of DHCP-allocated interface?

I have an interface which is given its IP address and Router/Gateway information by DHCP.

I wish to configure a bespoke IP route whose Nexthop is the Router/Gateway allocated by DHCP, and thus not knowable at configuration time.

How can I do that?

Re: Use BCP over PPTP to bridge multiple VLANs?

Thank you. Supplementary question: I have tried BCP over both PPTP and L2TP, and have it working over either. Are there any pros/cons that would indicate a preference for one rather than the other, as a carrier for BCP? The context here is that, at the main site, there is 1GBps available symmetrical...

Use BCP over PPTP to bridge multiple VLANs?

I am hoping to use two RB450G (running 5.4) to bridge between two sites which share the same VLANs: in other words to run a VLAN trunk between them, using BCP over PPTP or L2TP. Q1: is this even possible? Q2: if so, is any special configuration needed, or will BCP bridge all VLAN packets automatical...
