Re: Port Mirroring?

Will that work for multiple ports? Say you bridge 5 ports and restrict upstream for one of them (port-5).

Will you be able to monitor on port-5 all of the traffic exchanged on the rest of the bridged ports?
How does MT react to bridging, as a switch or as a hub?

thank you in advance

Re: mikrotik interface bridging

A currently use a very old 10mbps hub. Sometimes I have so many collisions that I manage to sniff only a fraction of the traffic. I am thinking that with MT, I could have the flexibility of bridging some of the ethernet ports as a hub while using the rest for other purposes. If hubbing is not possib...

mikrotik interface bridging

Hi all, in my line of work, we need to do a significant amount of network sniffing. An important tool for sniffing is a L2 hub. Unfortunately, it is not as easy nowadays to buy true L2 hubs (not switches). Is it possible to replicate a L2 hub with mikrotik? That is, to bridge multiple interfaces so ...

Routerboard throughput performance

Hi all, got two network arrangements with vastly different performance and want to know why. First arrangement involves two MT machines; one is an RB532 (ap bridge) and the other is a PC-Router (client). Behind the RB is another PC. There is a wireless link between PC-Router and RB at 2.4GHz using t...

Is adapter affecting the traffic that comes through it?? that is if you can get 4 cards working on the adapter. make own packages

Hi all,

do not know whether this part of the forum best matches this topic but will have a go.

Since MT is linux based, is it possible to "port" existing software or to develop ones own and re-package it for MT?

Thanks in advance

After consulting with support I was instructed to enable the wireless-legacy package.
After doing so the turbo option became available.

I have an overclocked RB532 (330MHz). I have managed to pass from ethernet through to wireless link an average of 38Mbps and a peak of 40Mbps during a bandwidth test session. An important parameter to watch for is cpu utilisation. Services like OSPF and BGP produce more then 20% of CPU load hence re...

I have had the same problem.
Unfortunatelly, the only way round was to netinstall the RB again. Of course this will reset your configuration.

as was explained in my previous post. The same cards on a Routerboard 14 in a PC with MT 2.9.6 support 2.4 turbo.

What country code should I try? Currently I am using the no_country_set option. Have tried a bunch of different ones to no result.

Thanks in advance

AR5213 with no turbo?

Hi all, I own a RB-532 running MTv2.9.13 equipped with a CM9 similar mini-pci wlan card with the AR5213 chipset. Wierdly enough, at the "band" pull down menu the option 2.4GHz-G-Turbo is not availablle. The same type of card is also installed on a PC with MT v2.9.6 and works perfectly with...

Problem with Routerboard 14

Hi all, I own two Routerboard 14 (PCI to 4 x MiniPCI) adapters and I have a very peculiar problem with both of them. Both cards are inserted onto a micro-ATX board (have tried it with asus a7s8x-mx and asrock k7s41gx to same end) and three mini-pci slots per adapter card are filled out with CM9 wlan...

I am not sure I understand what you mean. The arrangement described in my first post works only for 15min. After that one of the load balancing endpoints loses one of the gateways and load balancing seizes. If the OSPF costs were all right then load balancing should resume indefinitely. In the contr...

shutdown by watchdog timer

Hi all, I own an RB-532 powered over PoE with 18V that apparently is going through some hard times. After upgrading to MTv2.9.14 the system keeps on crashing and rebooting several times in a day. I have been trying to keep a remote log to figure out what has been causing the crashes without any succ...

OSPF load balancing problem

Hi all, I have the following topology: A --54/54-- B --54/54-- C --2/2-- D --55/55-- E --55/55-- A where A, B, C, D, E are MikroTik devices of verious versions 2.9.x. Node A has been included intentionally twice indicating that the topology is a closed loop. The "x/y" notation indicates th...
