Re: Severe port flapping on CRS328-24P-4S+ and CRS317-1G-16S+

Our investigation has revealed that there might be a SFP+ compatibility issue with specific CRS317-1G-16S+ units when connected to other CRS3xx devices resulting in random link downs. Please, contact MikroTik support if you experience similar issue, we will verify it and arrange a repair if necessary.

Re: CRS317-1G-16S+ FAN, SPF and RSTP problems

SwOS v2.9 has few changes which require updated fan controller firmware that comes only within RouterOS.
Please upgrade the CRS3xx to RouterOS v6.44beta61, the fan firmware will upgrade along with it.
Then you will be able to use SwOS v2.9 and can downgrade RouterOS if necessary as well.

Re: SwOS version 2.9 released!

Upgrading from 2.8 to 2.9 on a CSS106-5G-1S causes severe traffic drop between 1G ports and 100Mbit ports. It's random from 0 to 40Mbps.
Reverting back to 2.8 traffic increased back to steady 100Mbps.
Are there any errors in interface stats when using v2.8 or v2.9?

My understanding from the 6.40rc36 and 38 releases was that the switch chip menu was to not be used for ports not in a new bridge and ideally all configurations should move to the new VLAN aware hw-offload bridges. Currently, it is implemented only for CRS3xx series switches. If you see the table o...

SwOS can be reached from the internet just fine. The reason you don't need to specify netmask and gateway is that switch is just responder, it sends packets back to the same gateway that sent requests to it in the first place.

Hello chenier,
The RB250GS does not support Native VLAN (untagged) traffic on VLAN trunk ports, this setup is not possible with RB250GS.
The RB260GS could do it because it allows separate VLAN actions for each VLAN in the "VLANs" menu.

"drop-if-no-vlan-assignment-on-ports" is not necessary for "ether24-slave-local" port.
Now that option is dropping packets on ether24 port because it does not have an Ingress VLAN translation rule configured.

Ingress VLAN Translation rule with "sa-learning=no" makes CRS switch to not learn source MAC address on port 7. And if it does not learn, it does not know where to send back traffic destined to device connected to port 7. In such case switch sends traffic to all its ports except incoming.

Re: ingress and egress tagging

Ingress VLAN translation rules are for PVID (Port VLAN ID) configuration. PVID is a default VLAN id assigned to frames coming to the port. PVID is required on Access ports where usually PCs and other end-user devices are connected. Egress VLAN Tag table contains configuration for VLAN Trunk ports - ...

Re: CCR1009: ether1 through ether4 sporadically drop then instantly come back up - switch chip problem?

Possible port flapping problems on CCR1009 ether1-ether4 ports are fixed since RouterOS v6.29.

But the CRS226 interface resets seem to appear due to insufficient CPU resources in routing or bridging applications.
We are working to address this issue in upcoming RouterOS version.

Re: CRS VLAN multiple tagged/trunk ports case study

I have a question (maybe a stupid one but I want to learn and understand this), so if the internet traffic comes without any tagging at all, how will the virtual machines comunicate directly to the internet only through Layer 2? The traffic from the internet comes untagged right, and will it be tag...

Re: Can't get HP1810 VLAN to work

I noticed that "dhcp1101" server is configured on ether5 interface, but in this case it should be on "lgh1101" vlan interface.

Re: CRS VLAN mystery

# Switch VLAN tagging /interface ethernet switch egress-vlan-tag add vlan-id 50 tagged-ports=switch1-cpu Shouldn't this part of the ROS cause packets leaving ether2 to become untagged ??? "egress-vlan-tag" entry alone does not do anything. It works together with Port, Protocol or MAC based VLAN ass...

Re: CRS VLAN multiple tagged/trunk ports case study

I modified configuration to allow remote access to CRS226 from ether1 port too. Also I set VLAN filtering in the last place in configuration, probably, access is lost to the CRS before all necessary configuration is applied. P.S. IP addresses are just for an example. #Group of switched ports /interf...

Re: CRS VLAN mystery

This seems to be some configuration issue, because after importing your posted configuration on my CRS125 and enabling DHCP client (which was disabled by default) I got an IP address on VLAN50 from untagged DHCP server connected to ether2.
Could you post a full configuration export from your CRS?

Re: CRS VLAN multiple tagged/trunk ports case study

The previous configuration would work if the Internet comes in with tagged VLAN500. When you have to start dealing with tagging and untagging in CRS switch-chip, both Ingress VLAN translation and Egress VLAN Tag tables have to be configured for particular VLAN, in this case VLAN500. /interface ether...

Re: CRS VLAN multiple tagged/trunk ports case study

Try the following configuration, it should work wire-speed and without routing. /interface ethernet set ether10 master-port=ether1 set ether11 master-port=ether1 /interface ethernet switch vlan add ports=ether10,ether11,switch1-cpu vlan-id=99 learn=yes add ports=ether1,ether10,ether11 vlan-id=500 le...

Re: CRS226 - Routing Between Switched Groups

IP addresses configured on the master-ports of switch groups and IPs on the independent ports will allow routing between them.

Re: CRS VLAN multiple tagged/trunk ports case study

I got it now. :) Such configuration should already work with default settings or simply with a group of switched ports because all VLANs are allowed by default. You do not need to do tagging or untagging on the CRS, just configure VLAN filtering to allow certain VLANs and block others. /interface et...
