Thanks janisk, I take you intended to comment on Atheros8316 right?
Will the upcoming RB1100AH and RB100AHx2 models come with switch chip Atheros8316 ?

Re: RB1100AH - new product

wpeople, Can you share your maximum RB1100AH pps figure? Thanks, Everton Janis: to be fair - yes. however a decent x86 (like Core i3 or Core i5 or Xeon) can survive much much bigger pps flood. I've tested RB1100AH vs i3 router: RB's CPU maxed when a simple queue with 500mbps datarate enabled, while ...

Connection tracking required/desirable for HTB (quee tree)?

I'm considering the HTB (queue tree) config template below for sharing bandwidth usage among multiple customers. From Wiki I understood Connection Tracking should not affect a such config. Can someone with greater experience please confirm whether it is safe to turn off conntrack in this case (in or...

Re: PPPoE server for Windows 7 clients, possible ?

For the records, I have finally spotted the problem. There was an IPSec VPN Stack installed on Windows7 which prevented the PPPoE client from connecting successfully. The Windows7 computer was overcustomized after all. 1) Check encryption settings on both ends /ppp profile and Windows7 computer. 2) ...

Re: VRRP inactive flag on some interfaces, why??

Hmmm, I was able to fix things by bouncing the VLAN interfaces as follows: /interface vlan set [find] disabled=yes /interface vlan set [find] disabled=no I don't understand why a /system reboot didn't fix it. Scary. Huh. That all looks fine - unless I'm missing something that should work. Here's a w...

Re: VRRP inactive flag on some interfaces, why??

Sure, please see below. Most likely cause is that the physical interface that the VRRP interface is attached to isn't right. Can you post the output of "/interface vrrp export, "/interface vlan export", as well as "/interface print detail", "/ip address print detail&quo...

This is RB800 running v5.6. I'm puzzled on why some VRRP interfaces are flagged as invalid. Configuration for all VRRP interfaces is similar. Well, both boxes have been bought a few weeks ago. Don't know for how long they have been in the reseller's stock though. :-) huh... nothing useful for me - both 'ospf' and 'export' sections contain just one word: "failure:" when I saw first supout, I thought it has broken flash (nand, or ...

Re: Failure removing interface from OSPF (RB800 v5.5 and v5.

Hi Chupaka, I have sent you the supout.rif files for the affected Mikrotik RB800 routers. Now that I can work-around the problem by removing the 0.0.0.0/0 network from OSPF, the remaining issue is that exporting OSPF interfaces is unable to finish (it freezes): /routing ospf interface export If you ...

Re: Failure removing interface from OSPF (RB800 v5.5 and v5.

again, you can use 0.0.0.0/0 and then statically add necessary interfaces with appropriate settings, following by /routing ospf interface add disabled=no interface=all network-type=point-to-point passive=yes this will disable OSPF on all dynamically added interfaces You described what I was trying ...

Re: Failure removing interface from OSPF (RB800 v5.5 and v5.

No, the Mikrotik OSPF implementation does not add interfaces automatically. All interfaces have been explicitely added to OSPF thru "/routing ospf interface add interface=all". Problem is, I am unable to undo it. The 0.0.0.0/0 network on OSPF is working fine, as expected. Well, i think tha...

Re: PPPoE server for Windows 7 clients, possible ?

I tried to disable the encryption settings on both ends, no success with Win7. I also tried PPPoE on the physical interface (without VLAN), no success with Win7 either.

So far, both Linux and WinXP work properly. Win7 disconnects after the "Registering computer on the network" phase.
