Re: Point to Point Latency

If i were in your shoes i would be attempting to narrow the channel width down to 20mhz (you are unlikely to find 40mhz in the 2Ghz band); limit your MCS rates to 0->13 and run nstreme is your protocol. If this all goes to plan you should easily get 60mbit one way with 0-1ms latency.

For PtMP with TDMA i think the latency isnt bad; but the jitter is. To compare it to Cambium you will see about 17/18ms latency on the sector; but nearly no jitter at all even when fully loaded. In our testing we found that when you've tuned NV2 for lowish latency (say 2-3ms TMDA period size) Nstream produces more or less the same results up until you are maxing out the link - then latency goes up as the link becomes congested. If we use larger TDMA period sizes, then NV2 wins the day for p...

Hate to be this guy - some of the other operators in our country are reporting latency of 1-2ms on UBNT's airmax stuff - so one supposes its possible on MT as well (being TDD).

We have reasonable results from NV2 in P2P - around 5ms stable but that is as low as we have ever seen.

I agree with ChangeIP, if you can afford it i would suggest going to 5.7; even in ROS 4.xx we had some minor issues with multicast; and MT have done an enormous amount of work on ROS in 5.xx; so do that if you can!

The clients will be Mikrotik CPE right? Dont limit the data rates at the tower, leave the tower unset, and set at the client side - do this by testing the various rates 12/18/24/36 and set each client with the rates that get the best throughput.

This will help resolve your issue largely.

Some games (like wow) do their updates on a specific port, and then there's map downloads / sound downloads, so this may be what hes talking about. On a slow connection also being used for http / voip it can sometimes cause issues.

Ok, but as stated, its not practical to put another antenna / cable run, in the location where this one router is. We HAVE had trouble with the router failing (thermal issue) and it would be nice if another router had taken over when this happened until we were able to get on site.

Sounds to me like when BT'ing your 'spamming' the channel, and utilising all available bandwidth for the one customer. That would be my guess.

Limit the BT to 2mbit or something and see if the problem continues

Try using a lower frequency, 5745, or even to test, set your country to germany and use 5500 (to test only)

If your link stays up you can be sure the problem is interference, if not, you know the problem lies elsewhere

Hi Steve,

Thats all well and good, except many of our links are good two hours drive from where we reside, so a manual switch over would be a huge inefficiency. I had hoped two run to seperate everything with the exception of the antenna. This would help us deal with 99% of problems we encounter
