Re: RB2011UIAS-2HND-IN completely dead

Here's one i repaired, the primary Dc/Dc controller chip fried, and since i hadn't the correct one to replace, i replaced the PSU stage as a module.

It takes +24v from the BIG capacitor, and delivers 3.3 (actually, 3.45-ish) to the small cap.

Re: Request: FEC tunnel types

I agree that the application should be the 'smart' part. But in the case of Wifi, there's CSMA that wreaks havoc on any sort of predictability... UDP for instance has a checksum(optional) but no CRC. some implementations of L0 discard them, some pass along the degraded packets. There's no black and ...

Re: ccr1016-12s copper SFP question

Yup, the Atheros-based Mikrotik module supports auto-negociation, and just works.

I haven't seen any 'OEM' modules that are non-marvell based, so my experience may be different than yours. I tried them in CCRs and found that they're not worth the headache.

Re: ccr1016-12s copper SFP question

Most likely you have a module with a Marvell chipset. They don't do Auto-negociation (only work in 1000/full forced), same config required at the other end.

Solution: Use the MTK copper module. Will save you a lifetime of headaches.

Stainless on Stainless have a "galling https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Galling" problem.
Greasing the nuts and limiting the applied torque tends to alleviate the problem.
There are "anti-seize" products designed for aluminum, that will also greatly help on stainless.

try connecting your laptop to the port labeled as "8-BOOT"

Prioritize ACK frames over traffic in ADSL environment

Hello, i seem to have a situation where ack packets are being dropped by the adsl modem. The connection is 12MB/573kbps, but whenever there is upload traffic going on, the inbound speed fluctuates wildly, from 3 to 7, and no more than 7mbps. There is a bridged RB750 between the modem and the network...

Re: IPV6 disabled, clients still prefer IPV6 DNS servers

And that get us back to the golden question:

Why not to put the intelligence in the router, making dns relay filter out ipv6 dns addresses (That won`t work anyway), so that in fully ipv4 networks we can isolate that problem?

How difficult would be to add that as an option?

I have some spare rb750's, going to use them to do the leasing work.

Anyway, it is very confusing to have "Lite" hardware that is more powerfull than the G hardware. (Apart from tx-power, that is not necessary in hotspot scenarios).

I Strongly recommend against you trying to fix it. If you are not familliar with SMD components soldering, or even what is a capacitor.

Any electronics shop, especially smartphone repair shops, should be able to solder a capacitor that fits.

It looks like a filter cap for a voltage regulator[Q200], probably 1.8v. Most likely any 1uf ceramic will work (if you can get them new). If you have any scrap electronics, you could post a picture, and we could point a capacitor you could salvage. By the way it is positioned(There is another cap an...
