Maybe there should be some mapping of device names depending on the source of the export (which is in the header), so it knows when importing a config from another router which transformations have to be made on the input before applying it. yup, it's called man-hour-notepad  But adding on...

Indeed, CRS317 has a separate PHY into the same switch chip, while other models have a direct-to-CPU MGMT port. I got confused, my apologies. But that brings another topic: when vlan-filtering is enabled (and MGMT is on the "bridge"), you can lock yourself out of the switch All the more re...

In my opinion, the bigger issue is the "fail silently" of a /31 route.

Officialy unsupported to me, means that ROS should activelly refuse a /31 route as invalid.

The current way invites headache as the route is added and people spend time chasing tails.

Hi, i have three RB1100AHx2 on the bench (two of them run the FANs at 100% all the time), and a third one (very quiet running), for "differential-diagnose". the FAN speed seems to be derivative of measured current via 3x-parallel 0.22Ohm resistors, amplified by a Tl072, and fed into Q1106,...

Yup, the Atheros-based Mikrotik module supports auto-negociation, and just works.

I haven't seen any 'OEM' modules that are non-marvell based, so my experience may be different than yours. I tried them in CCRs and found that they're not worth the headache.

Most likely you have a module with a Marvell chipset. They don't do Auto-negociation (only work in 1000/full forced), same config required at the other end.

Solution: Use the MTK copper module. Will save you a lifetime of headaches.

@chechito, thank-you very much for the help, and sorry about the other topic.

i must have missed something, because there is no rate tab in the CAPsMAN menu.

Hi, rb951-2n was not exactly famous for its RF-performance.

Since there is a new line of low-cost "home" routers, my question is:

What is changed in the RF side of the radio, and which of the "sub-50 dollar" radios will give the best RF performance?
