Re: Webgui does not work on Safari

What does "does not work" mean? Is it an instant timeout, or do you wait forever?
I've seen that on low-end Mikrotiks, the web GUI can take quite a bit of resources and time to load.
It's possible that Safari might decide to time out, while other browsers ride through.

Re: ssh port forwarding CPU utilization

Strangely enough, my solution was to apply ssh compression to an already-compressed (Tight)VNC protocol. ssh -C has provided worlds of stability! I'm no longer worried about crashing the Mikrotik remote-displaying a console session. I'm typically doing this over links that have <5Mb/s links, so filt...

ssh port forwarding CPU utilization

I'm using ssh port forwarding through a one-CPU Mikrotik (usually a 751U-2HnD) to access VNC servers at the remote end. The client isn't busy. The server isn't busy. But, the poor CPU on the Mikrotik spikes to the point where occasionally it bogs down, resets. Has anyone else seen this sort of thing...

Anyone have issues with Mikrotik NTP servers not coming up?

I have a few Mikrotiks configured as simple NTP servers using the optional NTP package, like so: [2400@baud] /system ntp server> print enabled: yes broadcast: no multicast: no manycast: no broadcast-addresses: [2400@baud] /system ntp client> print enabled: yes mode: unicast primary-ntp: x.x.x.1 seco...

Re: v6.30.1 bugfix release

I upgrade an RB751U from 6.30 to 6.30.1 and it no longer acts as an NTP server. Were there changes in the 6.30.1 NTP server package that might not show up in the changelog since it's optional?? Perhaps it's an install issue?? I went from 6.30 to 6.30.1 by: /system packages update Every package appe...

Re: Winbox 3

There's no longer a pointer to Winbox 2 from http://www.mikrotik.com/download I inadvertently grabbed this as I was setting up a solution involving some Mikrotiks. This seems more like an 'alpha' release than a late beta -- crashy, doesn't save sessions, etc. NOT GOOD. I'd strongly encourage Mikroti...

Has anyone fixed a wifi problem by going from 'wireless' to 'wireless-fp'?

How does one enable NTP Server debugging??

I have the NTP Server from all_packages-mipsbe-6.11.zip installed and working on my RB-751. I wanted to debug something, so I enable ntp debug logging -- something I've done with other services many times before. Nothing gets logged. Is there a "topics" setting besides "ntp" I sh...

I saw a similar flooding of messages with a Nook Color.

I'd argue that the logging for that message shouldn't be at "info" level but more like debug.

Re: RB751U-2HnD , 100% cpu usage, winbox login lag

I'm seeing the same thing -- 100% CPU spikes on my RB751U-2HnD running 5.22, associated with 'flash' in the profiler. There's a dozen or so clients on the network at a given time, largely doing low-bandwidth stuff through their ISP. The only thing I use to poll the router is Winbox itself, which I s...

Re: simple queue all not working in OS v5.14

I've run into this behavior a couple times, too, under 5.12 and 5.14. I added a simple queue to limit the bandwidth to/from a particular IP and it didn't limit the bandwidth. The first time, I simply rebooted the Mikrotik and the simple queue started working. The next time, I disabled the queue, reb...

Re: v5.12 released

The out-of-the-box "guest" access is case sensitive, which seems like a bug. On a Mac running 10.6.8, when I connect to the Mikrotik share as "Guest" from the Finder, it actually connects as "GUEST". The Mikrotik SMB implementation expects "guest" and fails. H...

Re: Issues with MTU>1504 bytes on Intel NICs like 82575EB

Intel doesn't make much of an effort to sync their drivers to upstream Linux kernel source. What's in the Linux kernel is basically "enough to get you up and running". Note that many distros use the drivers from Intel directly rather than from the Linux kernel. I don't have nearly enough d...

Do you have the AssumeUDPEncapsulationContextOnSendRule registry setting on the Windows 7 end?
You need that setting to do NAT Traversal.

I that per-client or per-connection?
Per-connection.

I know there's PCC, but that does things based off a hash, not true round robin.

ROS 5.8
IPSec and IPSec/L2TP does not work with Mac OS X. Works fine with windows and linux.
I just set up MacOS 10.6.8 as an L2TP/IPSec client to ROS 5.8.
It seems to work ok.
