Re: HAp AC LED status lights

I would also like to know what these indicate? My HAP AC lights are changing colors at regular intervals.  The WiFi led, for instance, holds orange for 3 seconds and then momentarily changes to red and then back to orange again. The 5th port with POE out changes is similar but will blink red between...

Re: hAP lite

Only RB941 but this is slower It is, actually, faster. CPU 650MHz (hAP lite) vs 400MHz (RB951-2n) More Mhz is not more powerfull. See the Honzam's comparation. http://forum.mikrotik.com/download/file.php?id=19763 The hAP lite is much faster than the 951-2n in my experience. Mikrotik tests the throu...

RSTP - Switch Chip instead of Bridged ports - RB2011/CRS125

Is there an equivalent to RSTP on the RB2011 or CRS125 that utilized the switch chip instead of the CPU? I am hoping to increase the throughput and skip the CPU entirely. Currently I have a RB2011 with two Uplinks but the throughput will not go beyond 175mbps. No firewall rules or mangle rules setup...

I do not have any insight into this issue but I have a similar observation from ubiquiti wireless devices vs mikrotik wireless. Attached is a smoking graph where the switch from a Nanostation M5 to a Sextant5 is apparent.

I seem to be experiencing the same issue with my CCR3036. I can not attribute this to a load issue though. It seems that at any time of the day, SSL sites have a large delay initiating TCP transmission. Many banking sites are extremely slow and some practically unusable. Any insights into this from ...

Try to enable WDS on the radio.

Im terrible at Regular Expressions but there is probably a way to combine these REGEX into one L7 rule. Having a ton of Mangle/L7 Rules will give you a fairly large performance hit.

I'd like to know what the distinction here is as well...

On the guest wlan interface; default forward default authenticate are enabled. How is guest access limited?

How is the download speed limited?

It would be great to be able to set an upload speed limit as well.

If using chain=forward; wouldn't that block customers DNS queries if they decided to use a public DNS?

How might you implement protection from DNS attacks on customers CPE's from the Core Router?

Wireless, Wired or Both? It's both. At the head end, I have a tough switch powering various access points, though. Can't do port isolation without implementing VLANs first on those devices.. So while clients can't speak with their next door neighbors (attached to the same rb2011 or cloud router swi...

Re: Block Broadcast and Multicast, Consequences of doing so?

Is your goal to isolate clients at Layer 2?

Yes, definitely. I'm also not sure what an acceptable level of broadcast/multicast traffic would be on a medium sized bridged network.

Re: Block Broadcast and Multicast, Consequences of doing so?

You would effectively shut down your network....IPv4 requires Layer2 multicast and broadcast for ARP to work along with a number of other protocols. Limiting the rate of broadcast/multicast traffic would be a better solution...you accomplish this by turning on the firewall for bridge traffic in bri...

Re: RB951-2n Prioritizing Avaya IP Phone traffic

I think you are looking for this: http://wiki.mikrotik.com/wiki/DSCP_based_QoS_with_HTB As I understand it the DSCP prioritization would only really happen if you are hitting a bandwidth limit (either imposed by your connection speed or self imposed by queueing). Also, the QOS you are trying to acco...

Re: CCR Simple Queue Usage / Performance Criteria

If you are using simple queues for clients try changing the default queue size to something between 75-150 packets. The default queue type for simple queues is set to pfifo "default-small" which has a Queue Size of 10 packet. You can't push more than 12-20mbit to each customer at that buff...

CCR <-> Sextant5 <-> Toughswitch(at the POP) <-> Sextant5 <-> Sextant5 <-> RB2011rm(all bridged ports) <-> RB951-2n(CPE's) Bandwidth Test from the RB2011 to the CCR gets at lest 100mbps throughput in either direction. Solution is to change queue type from default-small to default. Or create a new pfifo queue with a larger buffer(>50packets).
