Feature request: G.8031/G.8032

I'm looking at high resilience carrier-ethernet scenarios for a client. They want fast recovery from outages on links. The only good solution for this is G.8032 Ethernet Ring Protection which can heal in 50mS or less. RSTP etc is not even in the same league. The CRS125 looks very nice for remote rad...

non standard wireless channel spectrum usage.

On a normal 20MHz channel there are 64 OFDM subcarriers of which 48 are available for data. Of the remander 4 are used for synchronisation and the remainder are not transmitted to act as guard bands to avoid adjacent channel interference. There are spectral masks which show the signal rolloff outsid...

Re: European MUM 2013: Croatia!

Hi All, If you think €260 is expensive, the CHEAPEST flight from Malta to Zagreb on those dates (12 to 16), excluding any additional taxes, is €525 and that involves a stop of about 6hrs via Frankfurt each leg and a plane change. I have the same issue, over QAR3200 round trip for flights (Around Eu...

Re: Dual band indoor AP

Your office space seems huge and I would recommend to install at least two AP's on each floor or every second floor. Until MT does not announce anything new, you could look up enclosures from RF elements or meconet to name a few, but they all require an external antenna. If there are suspended ceil...

Re: Dual band indoor AP

Yes I can use those models and add wireless cards but I need a package which can be installed indoors and 'look nice'. The black metal Mikrotik enclosures with antennas poking out of one end really don't do the job and they are only good for three antennas anyway. One good thing about the Cisco Airo...

Dual band indoor AP

Does anyone know of an indoor dual band AP packaged with antennas and based on Routerboard? I've a few projects[1] coming up which need to support clients on both bands, I've used Cisco AIR-AP1252 on previous projects but they were pricey and have now been replaced by new models. Dual band APs are n...

Re: How to force DNS requests using tcp protocol!

I don't think you can force requests to be TCP in a Mikrotik router. I can think of a couple of ways to sort your issue, 1. Run your own DNS resolver on a Linux box - you could even try metarouter. You may be able to force Bind9 to use TCP requests. or 2. Find a friendly server not too distant from ...

CCR VPN performance

Are there any performance figures for tunnel and VPN performance of the CCR? I'm looking at a PPTP VPN server application and would like to know the throughput of any individual connection and the total aggregated throughput of multiple users. I've been hitting the throughput limits of 1200 and 1100...

Thanks for the information. It may be worth adding it when you next update the data sheet.

Re: POE-CON-HP 48 to 24 volt converter

I've found this forum link[1] which says the unit isolates input to output: http://forum.mikrotik.com/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=63882 But it doesn't say what the isolation voltage is or if the heatsink/case is floating or connected to an input or output. This is important if I mount it to a grounded s...

POE-CON-HP 48 to 24 volt converter

Does the POE-CON-HP isolate input to output, if so what is the maximum isolation voltage? The PCB photo on the data sheet indicates a barrier between input and output but isolation is not stated on the data sheet. I've got to to power RB2011 from -48V (positive earth) telecommunications power suppli...

RB751 / RB751G Antenna radiation pattern

I'm looking for the antenna radiation patterns for the RB751 so I can design coverage in a building.

Can anyone point me at the polar plots?

thanks

Re: SXT 5HND -- Temperature specification.

no, the specified temperature is outside ambient temperature. we put the device inside the temperature chamber, and turn the temperature of chamber to 80C. this would be the equivalent of "in shade" temperature in Qatar. Thanks for clarifying. This makes a huge difference in deployment as...

Re: 4000 simultaneous wireless connections guaranteed

Your biggest problem will be RF interference between access points, this will limit the throughput and the total number of clients more than the number of clients per access point. At 2.4GHz you have 3 usable channels: 1, 6 and 11 and you need to arrange the access points to minimise interference be...

Re: SXT reflector - 154mbps TCP

Another factor which should be considered is that the vertical and horizontal beamwidths of an offset dish are not the same. They are designed to focus on a satellite but ignore adjacent ones a couple of degrees either side at 12GHz. The vertical beamwidth is often two to three times wider. Beamwidt...

Re: SXT 5HND -- Temperature specification.

all products are measured at ambient/air temperature in SXT case inside air is ambient. Do you mean that you consider the air temp inside the case to be ambient and therefore the product specification is based on the internal temperature of the box which is 20-25C higher than the air outside the bo...

SXT 5HND -- Temperature specification.

The spec sheet for the SXT 5HND states that the operating temperature range is -30C to +80C but doesn't state how this is to be measured. I'm in Qatar where summer air temperatures will break 50C and objects in direct sunlight often are 20C higher, there are cases where exposed metalwork is 30C high...
