Re: QA of software releases

Stable releases 7.14 > 7.15 are not released daily or often. Like one of the above posters said, you should just ignore beta and RC releases if you are not interested to be part of the development process. This is a hardcore enthusiast forum and we are releasing these ... basically internal nightly ...

RouterOS is a whole operating system, it's not some smartphone app. There are millions of potential configurations and therefore, conflicting configurations. We already have insane amounts of tests, but sometimes bugs do appear.

What is the real objective here? Why do you need to delay people from using the web after they authenticate? If you want them to look at some ads, just don't show the "login button" for X seconds via Javascript

Re: QA of software releases

What makes you think that? Like above posters said, we have a long internal alpha stage, then we have beta stage. You the users are only a part of the full set of testing that is done internally.

You really think MikroTik just blindly builds betas and dumps them in the forum?

Not helpful, anav!

Currently BTH is only meant for Phone or PC connecting to a MikroTik router. There is no option for router-router communication. You can use ZeroTier for this, if you have an ARM device.

For your first setup, use the phone. Then with the phone, use the "share" option in the BTH app and send the invitation to your Desktop PC (whatsapp, airdrop, email etc). In the Desktop PC you will need WireGuard application. you can import the shared Config file there

Qualcomm are excellent chips, packed with features, but they are also more expensive, this is why it is very hard for MikroTik to compete with some noname brand prices. There are cheaper chip makers that offer less features etc.

Re: Changelog Question

But why is a change to a default firewall rule not a special attention required?
I don't understand why you think this change is somehow more important than others.
Default config does not change operation of your device, does not make new entries in your config and does not introduce new menus.

Re: Changelog Question

Every line in there is important to somebody. Every line is a fix or a new feature that somebody was waiting for.
We incude !) with lines that you should pay special attention to, if some config has changed or a new menu has appeared. It is not meant to say one fix is better than another fix.

Re: spare part exact name\code? wifi Antenna for HAP AC3 ?

Yes, that outdoor antenna is not flexible, it is a one piece. You can't buy the hAP ax3 antenna separately from MikroTik, but you could use a different brand antenna if it has the same connector type and is compatible with the desired frequency

Yes, macOS is very stubborn. If you joined a SSID with WPA3, it will try it again, no matter if you removed it from recently used SSIDs.
Just for sake of experiment, set a new SSID in the hAP device

Re: any fix yet for Macbook Pro 2016-2017 not working with hAP ax3 wifi?

OK so this could be the cause. MacBooks sometimes remember old config, even if you changed it. Try another SSID. It will think it's a new network and will reconsider the settings.

We tried it with wiki and it ended in disaster, there were lots of errors in manuals and even some self promotion. This was even during period when only approved consultants could edit the wiki.

When macbook has connected, hold "option" on the keyboard while clicking on the wifi icon in top-right corner of the screen. It will show more details about the connection

Yes, as you found in the documentation, those are currently not supported, as they force using HTTP2, which RouterOS currently does not support

Plenty of people here use that generation of macbook without issue, so it must be either a macOS config issue or ROS config issue. Try and configurre OS as 5ghz-ac and remove WPA3 and see how it works then.

Re: Wake up lan 7:00pm

You mean the Wake on LAN feature? First test if the command does what you need it to do.
[normis@MikroTik] > tool/wol interface=bridge mac=

If yes, then add this command to the "on-event" field of "/system/scheduler" and set the time, when it should be run.

When 7.14 is not in beta, config should be migrated normally. During beta all kind of bugs can be possible, so be careful.

Re: Mikrotik V7 - PPTP not recommended

1) You can use PPTP. It will only show a warning. There is no limitation.
2) PPTP is known to be vulnerable and easily hackable. Recently some exploits were published. Nobody should use it anymore.

Correction, old SMB did not work with macOS.
New v7.14 SMB works with all Operating Systems now. And is fast too.
There is a different config now, so you may need to adjust first.

Re: [Discussion] MikroTik configuration abstraction complexity

It is not, that's why home user can use "MikroTik Home" app, or rely on the ISP to configure their device. Some mobile operators don't even allow access to RouterOS to home users. The strength comes in the feature set the ISP has available, not on user friendliness.

By the way guys, did you know anyone can publish a CVE, even if it's not? Just that it has a CVE number has zero meaning.
