No, like others said, Quickset is completely fine as a starting point, but when you see something that is not possible in quickset, move on to the advanced menus. Once you do, don't go back to quickset.

MikroTik devices have other default IP address than your old router. You can't magically make it work the same, you must connect and set up this IP that you wish to use. "I" flag is so generic, that there is no way to give any pointers, without knowing the menu you are in. For each section it can be something else. Often it's relying on something that is not active or enabled.

Re: Dual radio, same ssid , preferred 5GHz band

If both SSIDs are good quality signal, most modern devices choose 5GHz for the speed.
If there is some distance (walls), 2GHz signal is better at obstacles, so at one point, the 2GHz signal will be simply stronger than 5GHz. Then the device usually will choose 2GHz because of signal strenght.

The idea is to protect device against stealing. If somebody steals it, there is no way to get inside and get your passwords and config, also making the device useless to steal (because it is unusable).

So there is no workaround. It can't be used, if you don't know the reformat time setting

Re: v7.1beta6 [development] is released!

Because RouterOS is made for all devices, but your example with OpenWRT is compiled specifically for one product only.
Until RouterOS doesn't have NPK file for each model separately, it will always be bigger, as it has more drivers inside.

Test needs to be:

Then do test from PC to PC2. I think you will see much higher "real life" speeds.

In this case, size would only help if your distance would exceed what the SXT can do (due to it's smaller antenna). In my opinion, 1km is not a big distance and SXT will give you roughly the same speed as any larger devices. Their size basically just gives you more reach, but you are not far

Windows 10 requires the user to install a driver from a shady website, ROS feels like ancient technology man.
This feels contradictory :)

First of all, no, hEX does not have a built-in wireless interface.
Yes, it can work as a controller for other AP devices, but they all must be MikroTik brand.

Just like SiB answered, most of these questions are for the mobile operator. This is a global forum, so we don't know which country you are from, what operators you have nearby etc. MikroTik manufactures devices where you can use any operator or SIM card. Just check if your operator works in the sup...

It's quite different from the beta, there are many user-friendly changes in the public version. I think only power users need more options and the bigger screen, so those user groups separate nicely. Big screen, many options, GUI matches CLI. And then home users, who prefer phones for everything, le...

Re: RB4011iGS+5HacQ2HnD-IN 5Ghz disappearing

As mentioned above, there can be two causes, one is when the DFS mechanism is looking for radars, if you use a frequency in the DFS range. Simply setting a different frequency will resolve it. The other one is also software related, multiple wireless fixes for the ARM platform were recently released...

You have a bridge with all the interfaces in it, including WLAN2, but you have a separate interface list called WAN, which you use for your NAT masquerade rule. That doesn't sound correct.
