CapsMAN basic questions

Hi I have a number of separate networks for separate customers across different physical addresses. I would like to be able to send out an access point that can be plugged in on site and is pre-configured to communicate back to a central capsman server via the internet. Much like I can do with unifi...

Re: CAP Lite POE Input (Mode A?)

From https://wiki.mikrotik.com/wiki/Manual:TOC/MikroTik_POE_in_compatibility_table it appears a cAP lite will work if you use an MDI-X crossover cable or adapter. Thanks - thats the chart I was looking for. The Crossover cable is an interesting one. But I can make it work :-) Thanks again for your ...

CAP Lite POE Input (Mode A?)

Hi Can anyone please confirm for me that the cAPlite supports Mode A poe input - that is 48v with +12 and -36 I dont want to power it with mode B which uses +45 -78 as it is old 2-pair cat5 cable so need to use the same pairs for power and 100mbit data. The spec sheet says it supports 802.11af/at bu...

Re: LAN arp broadcasts leaked outside bridge ports

I am having the same problem on 6.49.7 with a RB2011 customer router. ether1 (LAN) goes to local lan switch ether2 (WAN) goes to isp uplink Our router on the isp end can see neighbor devices plugged into the (LAN) port of the customer router. In the customer router there is no bridging so we shouldn...

Wifi AP central management

Hi Everyone Can you recommend a product or service which allows us to 1. Enter a command into the mikrotik device command prompt to set a controller address and download the necessary scripts etc 2. From that controller, set the device as an access point and make remote changes to the device config ...

Split Horizon

Hi All I would like some advice for which model to buy which will do split horizon without a performance impact. I would like to bridge some VLANs on a single physical port together, and then enable split horizon. Q-in-Q I tried this a few years ago but performance was very bad as it disabled the ha...

Re: The 4.2 G of unknown services thread..

From what I have found on here and other threads is it stems from adding a service and then removing it. I cant remember if it was a ping or snmp service. Anyhow if you delete the device on the map, then click the undo to make it reappear, then it works fine. The undo button will restore any links t...

Graph a value even though it is down [SOLVED]

Hi Guys We have a function voltage() which we would like to graph. The function simply looks up the OID and pulls a value. If voltage falls below 24 then we want it to consider the probe as down, but still output a value for the graphing. At the moment if the voltage is above 24, it graphs perfectly...

Dude probe data not saving

Hi Guys I have a silly problem that I cannot solve. I have created a data source to query the voltage of a routerboard but I cannot get it to save the data. Every time I open the chart it starts blank and doesnt show the historic data. I dont think its saving the data to the routerboard memory that ...

Layer 2 for wholesale access

I am looking at applying for some government funding We will probably need to provide layer 2 wholesale access and split the company into a network and retail division. Much like our government's fibre-to-the-home build, each customer tail is delivered across a handover with each customer as a seper...

Better graphs

I have just seen the built in graphs feature within our mikrotik routers. Does anyone know of a package that can be installed that provides greater detail without having to install a separate graphing or logging server? Am i right in assuming the solution to doing it within the router is a package? ...

Autolayout not working

Hi All I am trying to make a network map which shows the layouts / links between routers etc on the network. However when I set it to scan a subnet (which I am connected to, which includes a router) and then to scan 5 hops, It just scans the current subnet and doesnt seem to 'look' at the mikrotik r...

Unmetered data and PPPoE

Hi all I am trying to work out a solution where I use freeradius / DMA softlabs + microtik PPPoE to replace kerio control. My current kerio control software allows me to exclude certain IP addresses from the data that gets counted. This means I can offer my subscribers unmetered websites that dont c...

Hi all I have been Ubiquiti based with about 60 customers on my rural network, but i would like to step up my game and integrate microtik routeros into the network for routing etc. The entire network is bridged up to the CPE and so customers are being double natted. As part of the change, I will beg...
