Might want to post your current config (sanitised of course) otherwise people will just be guessing.

I take it you are aware that all Inter VLAN traffic is passed through the CPU so you won't get wire speed??

Re: Can someone explain Mikrotik CloudRouterSwitches to me ?

No, you assign it to the Master Port, which is Port 2 by default (I think, memory is a bit hazy, might be port 1) which is then accessible from any port in the switch group

Mikrotik Training

Hey Guys,

Just wondering from those of you have completed any of the Mikrotik Certifications, was it worthwhile??

Toying with the idea of running through, but it's quite an outlay, and am already tied into the Cisco and Juniper tracks but are starting to see more Mikrotik turning up.

If you're after RouterOS 6.18 for the mipsbe then it should be http://download2.mikrotik.com/routeros/ ... e-6.18.npk

Otherwise you'll have to be more specific

Personally I wouldn't use NAT.

Are the computers using the Mikrotik as their default gateway??

Can you post up the whole config of the unit??

Re: Firewall on inter-bridge connections?

By slaving the interfaces, you're using the 2 switch chips of the RB2011 (One for the GigE ports, and another for the 100s) which turns the ports into a layer 2 switch. In the simplest turns, bridging does the same, although it's run through the RB CPU instead of being processed by specific hardware...

Re: connect between 2 networks on the same router

If the RB411U is the default gateway for both devices you shouldn't need to do anything, it should route between them unless you have any firewall rules to prevent it.

Assuming the QRT5s are similarly spec'd (Antenna gain, TX Power etc) to your current back haul then there's no reason you couldn't.

Re: RIP from Hell (RIP Bug?)

RIPv1 has been around since the late eighties and was a Classful routing protocol and didn't carry subnet information in the updates, so Class A addresses will be /8, Class B will be /16 and Class C will be /24 Not surprised it hasn't been noticed if it is a bug as RIP is an outdated and rarely used...

Re: Two interfece one ip address

Make Port2 master of Port3. They will act as one port with MAC of Port2 so assign IP to Port2.
Does that work on x86 with NICs (I assume because he's talking of a hotspot pc with 4 interfaces)??

Otherwise create a bridge, put port 2 and 3 in it and put the ip address on the bridge

If they're only a metre apart, chances are you've got way too much signal.

Also there have been a few threads claiming that nv2 isn't optimised for AC yet, getting the same results with 802.11? Have you tried using N nv2?

If it's just for a PtP link, just try changing "ht-extension-channel=below-control" to "ht-extension-channel=above-control" and see if it accepts that

Looks like it's not liking "ht-extension-channel=below-control" which is possibly because 5180 is the first channel and there isn't another below it?

Might have to go back to whoever issued the command?

Haven't played with the RB800/816 Combo so you might want to wait for someone more experienced to throw their hat into the ring if it's a critical service. Assuming ether1-3 are the RB800 gigabit interfaces and ether4-19 are the RB816 interfaces, so if that's wrong, you'll have to adjust as required...
