Bandwidth Quota

My current network uses simple queues to manage bandwidth speeds only, however now I want to add a total limit for download. Unfortunately simple queue stats are reset whenever the system is rebooted or a power failure happens, so its completely useless to me as the power failures are frequent here....

The only thing I can tell you is that in the v6.4 change log it says:

You may try...
Has this been confirmed ? Also its just interface or queues too ?

You could add a secondary IP for your LAN port as 10.15.2.1 and "mimic" his office server, you'd still keep your primary IP and have DHCP working on it, but the second IP would allow your locked laptop to still access the internet as if it were at the office.

adsl line info ?

Is there a way to get the adsl line info like a regular commercial router provides ? Like how much my current up/down bandwidth is, what is the maximum line bandwidth, signal/noise ratios, line errors.....etc ? I have my commercial routers set in bridge mode with MK providing the PPPoE interface and...

Re: Accessing subnets behind mikrotik

yes I had posted that when I only had one operational line. Now I have 3 ethernet interfaces, LAN, WAN1, WAN2. The last 2 each connects to a single router in bridge mode. There are 2 more PPPoE interfaces called TEdata1(4mb) & TEdata2(2mb). I've removed the LAN masquerade rule, below is all the data...

Load balancing with pcc + queue trees ?

I have 2 adsl lines load balanced using pcc and bandwidth managed with simple queues, I wanted to switch to a queue tree so how can I accompolish both ? To use pcc load balancing I need to mark all packets from both dsl lines so I can route them accordingly, but to use queue trees I'd need to mark a...

Payment reminder without external webserver

I'd like to setup a payment reminder without having a 2nd box up and running just for the sake of hosting a single page, is there no way to use mikrotik's own file system ? It seems perfectly capable of hosting the hotspot, graphs & web proxy pages. If not, can I commandeer one of those pages, edit ...

Help securing system

I'd like some help with securing my box, I've read & tried a couple of wiki articles here and here . However they seem to be dropping alot of traffic which I suspect is related to torrents. All I really want to do is disable any external login from the WAN side without impacting user experience insi...

Re: Configuring 2 adsl lines for pppoe

yeah I figured thats what was happening, so I installed another ethernet interface and moved the 2nd line there. That seems to have fixed my problem and PPPoE is working perfectly now.

Re: Configuring 2 adsl lines for pppoe

I live in egypt so I'm pretty sure I have different providers. But if what you say is true and this is a provider-side problem, is there nothing I can do to fix it short of moving the pppoe configs back to the routers ?

Configuring 2 adsl lines for pppoe

In my current setup I have 2 adsl lines each connected to a router operating in PPPoE bridge mode, both routers connect to a single lan interface of the mikrotik server through a switch. There is a second interface that leads to my LAN, and I do some load balancing on the server. I have managed to g...

Accessing subnets behind mikrotik

My MK server has 3 interfaces, LAN, WAN1, WAN2 and I do loadbalancing on both wans, however I can't access either WAN subnets to get to the router's config page. LAN = 192.168.0.0/24 WAN1 = 192.168.1.0/24 (router's ip is 192.168.1.98, MK's interface is 99) WAN2 = 192.168.2.0/24 (router's ip is 192.1...

I'm sorry I'm new to mikrotik but I wanted to ask, shouldn't the route gateway lead to 192.168.1.1, the external router ?

Re: Simple LAN-WAN help required

with my current setup, should LAN 1 (192.168.0.#) be able to ping the router at 192.168.1.99 through the mikrotik gateway 192.168.0.99 ? With one interface in each subnet, a NAT firewall masquerade rule for the LAN and a route from 0.0.0.0 to the router ? Or is it not supposed to ping ? I can ping b...

Re: Simple LAN-WAN help required

1) I can't do that since I'm using a DSL line, I need the router for the phone jack, I don't have a pci modem card. 2) The RouterOS is able to ping both networks but the LAN (192.168.0.x) can't ping the router (192.168.1.99) is this good or bad ? After messing around with the configs I managed to ge...

Simple LAN-WAN help required

Hello, I'm fairly new to mikrotik and wanted to get a basic setup for now. Currently my old setup is a sizable LAN of about 80 PC's all sharing the 192.168.0.X range, the gateway & DNS being 192.168.0.99 which is a regular d-link router. The router recieves a dynamic IP from my ISP, DHCP is turned o...
