Re: Best Practice for LACP with CloudCore

I remember I thought I'd be cute and setup LACP on two ports on an RB751U... the CPU went to 100% at around 30Mbps... once I removed the LACP config I was able to get up to the wire speed 100Mbps.

Best Practice for LACP with CloudCore

I'm going to be using a CCR1036 as a router that will be connected to a 24 port Cisco GbE core switch. From the core switch there will be a 2x1Gb LACP configuration going to each of the 5 distribution switches. My question is what would be considered a best practice for the LACP configuration betwee...

I'm just looking at the interface statistics while copying a file from a laptop to a server using the bridged SSID-VLAN.

RB751U-2HnD VLANs for separate SSIDs

I have an RB751U-2HnD setup with multiple SSIDs that lands the user in multiple VLANs depending upon which SSID they connect to. The way that I have found to implement this is to create a bridge between each SSID and each VLAN. I have read that this will be limiting to the throughput because of the ...

Re: RB751U-2HnD , 100% cpu usage, winbox login lag

I had this problem as well with my RB751U-2HnD, but it seemed to go away around ROS v 5.16-5.17. Exact same symptoms as everyone else has reported above. 80% or so CPU usage in the "flash" category with no hotspot, usermanager, proxy, ntp, or anything else mentioned to check above. I thought I was h...

Re: Change to new public IP

I cannot really follow what you have attempted so far, but The process for setting up an IP address on an interface in WinBox is: Go to IP > Addresses Click the + sign to add a new address or double-click an existing entry to change it. Enter the IP address in CIDR notation and leave the network fie...

Re: Bridge not forwarding traffic on ESXi host

I also have X86 working well on ESXi 4.1U2 and 5.0U1. Yes you do have to enable promiscuous mode as you would no matter what the virtualized network appliance would be... MikroTik, Vyatta, pfSense, Untangle, etc

Re: DHCP only

I'm not sure exactly what you're asking is possible and/or wise. Even if you did set DHCP reservations for all of the hosts on your network, there's no reason someone couldn't accidentally pick a static IP that is within the range that your firewall allows. If all or most of your hosts are wireless,...

Re: The Dude is dead. Move on.

I wish there were an official statement if The Dude were dead or not. I think it is a great product and no alternatives free or otherwise can compete because of the RouterOS integration. We are 100% MikroTik shop (router-wise) and have come to know and love the Dude over the past years. Really if we...

Re: Purchased licence but x86 24hr trail expired - Help

It says in the Wiki http://wiki.mikrotik.com/wiki/Manual:License_levels#Can_I_Format_or_Re-Flash_the_drive.3F that if you reformat with non-Mikrotik tools that it will destroy the license. Reinstallation with the MikroTik CD would seem to be a MikroTik tool. That being said. I believe that you can l...

Re: Just tired of this.

Not to discount anything that you have said, but it is quite easy to obtain [some of] the previous releases. Just copy the URL for the latest version and change the version number. For example if you right click on the current download and select copy link URL you will see that the URL is http://dow...

Re: IP camera on LAN and PC on WLAN

You either need some static routes defined or NAT between the two networks. If these networks are on directly connected interfaces (which it says they are) then the routes will already be there. If vilim could post the output of ip route print we can confirm this. Otherwise, perhaps default gateway...

Re: ipsec Mikrotik to Mikrotik - newbie help needed :-(

The biggest "gotcha" that I experienced when I first setup my MikroTik-to-MikroTik IPSec Tunnel was generating the "interesting" traffic. As you said the configuration of the IPSec tunnel is pretty straight forward, 2 tabs in IP>IPsec and the Masquerade Bypass. Then when I went into Tools>Ping, at f...

Queue / Bandwidth Limitation depending upon subnet

I have a building with a network security DVR in it. There are several private subnets within the building and one WAN (Comcast Cable) connection. My question is... How can I setup bandwidth limiting so that it only applies only people who access the DVR from the WAN. People accessing it from the LA...

Re: Comments on 6.0b1

The issue where the RB751U-2HnD will not reboot without freezing during startup seems to still exist in 6.0b1 Other than that, new ROS seems great, I like the Quick Set feature. I don't have any queues setup at the moment so I can't comment on any increase in performance there. One thing that I am c...

Re: RB751U-2HnD wifi not initialized after power cycle

I am having the same or similar issue. Do you have any ethernet in 2,3,4,5? I am not using my 751U for wireless at all, in fact the wireless is completely disabled. I am just using it for a simple wired only router with the wan on ether1 and a switch plugged into ether2. Every time I reboot the rout...

Re: RB751 bootup problem

I'm having the exact same issue with my 751U. I have read other forum posts that suggest that this problem only started with ROS 5.13 and continues in 5.14. One thing that I found is that if you go to SYSTEM > ROUTERBOARD and then click SETTINGS, my CPU Frequency was set to 250MHz. I've changed CPU ...
