Re: How to release DHCP client IP and not automatically renew

Works thank you, release then quickly disable before the auto renew kicks in.

Wonder why is there no release by itself, I was really surprised to find that release works just like renew?

Re: How to release DHCP client IP and not automatically renew

The IP comes from the ISP's DHCP server, I can only control the DHCP client.

How do I release without an automatic renew?

How to release DHCP client IP and not automatically renew

Hi, I need to test my FiOS setup, and to do this I need to release my leased IP, before I can plug in another router.
How do I release my DHCP client lease and not automatically renew?

Re: WinBox 3.7 crashes on Win10 15002

I bet it is a WinBox issue, the crash report says it is heap corruption, i.e. memory being accessed after it was freed.
Regardless, any ISV that ships product on Windows and does NOT test with Insider builds, is not a good ISV.

Re: DNS Rebinding and Plex

I found a setting in OpenDNS that turns of "Suspicious Responses" / "Block internal IP addresses", and that solved the problem.
Unfortunately there is no support in OpenDNS (at least in my home plan) that allows per domain exclusions.

Thank you all for the help.

Re: DNS Rebinding and Plex

I don't think it's the router, I've never encountered any kind of such filtering in RouterOS. It's most likely filtered by parent resolvers, i.e. those set in IP->DNS. That's it, thank you. I tested local vs. Google, but I am using OpenDNS as DNS. > server 208.67.222.222 Default Server: resolver1.o...

Re: DNS Rebinding and Plex

The address is dynamic, the GUID looking part of the name is a dynamically generated security token, so adding a static entry will not work, or will work for a short time, until the token is regenerated. In dnsmasq the equivalent option is "rebind-domain-ok=/plex.direct/" In pfSense the equivalent o...

Hairpin NAT for dynamic WAN IP

Hi, I've read many posts about setting up harpin NAT with a dynamic IP, but for the life of me I can't get it working. Simple home setup: WAN port is "ether5-wan", gets IP over DHCP. LAN port is "ether1-lan", runs DHCP server, 192.168.0/24 scope. Port forwarding TCP 8082 on WAN to 192.168.1.48 on LA...

Re: Unable to use "server-dns-names" with NTP package, need NTP package for NTP server

As FYI, Mikrotik support said: - The NTP client in the NTP package is of "higher accuracy" compared to the default NTP client. - A future release will add support for DNS names for NTP servers in the NTP package NTP client. Still seems more trouble compared to just always including the NTP server an...

That is really too bad. Agree with you that this topic has been discussed on the forum for many years. No more need to schedule a script to resolve FQDN and then re-set IP.
I never understood why the update interval was so short, at least make it configurable.

Re: How to get MAC of DHCP server on WAN

I found out how to print the MAC addresses using ARP:
"ip arp print"

And I found out how to get the IP address of hte DHCP server:
"ip dhcp-client print detail"

Now, how to get the MAC address of the DHCP server IP, given that the DHCP server IP is not listed in the ARP table?

How to get MAC of DHCP server on WAN

Hi

My MikroTik WAN connects to a network where we sometimes have rogue DHCP servers.
How do I get the MAC address of the DHCP server that issued my MikroTik its IP address?

On my own machine I'd do it using arp -a, but I don't know how to use arp like this on the MikroTik WAN.

Help?

Re: No routing after changing device IP

Check the DHCP server too. If you are getting the IP served out from there you will need to modify the pool of addresses (/IP / Pool) and the network settings (IP / DHCP Server/ Networks) to correspond to the chosen LAN address. I did change DHCP server and pool, I also tested with DHCP server disa...
